lol, i dont see what the problem would be with buying 2 fc's to make one... i think i've used 3 or 4 to make 1 if i counted all the parts from different cars :P

my point is that it will be very costly since the RX-8's engine has a lot of new technology that isn't easily adaptable to the FC. Like the TB being drive by wire. How the hell do you get that to work without the Rx-8's electronics? How do you keep the MOP system working and the controls for all the Intake variations. Its way too much bullshit to be practical. Buy a nice TII and forget about the 8's engine.

i'm new so don't take my post as fact...just asking...
the renesis is a 13B just like every subsequent rxy from 86+ (if i'm not mistaken). The engine should bolt right up in the same location with the same mounts...you may have some hood/firewall clearance issues but I don't think it'll take that much work to get the engine in. DO plan on trying to fabricate your own throttlebody adapter plate so you can reuse on older style TB. I'm not sure how much if any electronics from the RX8 you'll even need.
The rotary engine doesn't have to worry about variable valve timing or so forth...if you switch to a standalone like Haltech R6X you shouldn't need the ecu for hardly anything.
I'd love to see it done. Once more renesis engines become available I'd love to start trying different swaps with them. I can't wait to see the new renesis-powered miata.

Mounts are different for every rotary engine made for every gen. You can't bolt in a renisis anymore than you can just bolt in a 13BREW or 13BRE into a FC. Custom mounts will be required (as well as a custom oil pan, and probably a custom FC front subframe).

dam, you learn something new everyday. So there isn't really much reason to put a renesis into an FC unless you want a bunch of headaches and expensive/kinda fast car.

How much would a nice set of custom rotors cost, I'm just throwing numbers but something like 11:1. I in no way plan on doing this just the curiousity is killing me. Prob way too expensive for my blood.

Eh it doesn't matter, his point is still valid that they're pretty close, and there's not a huge reason to try and use the 10:1's concidering the cost and it's more difficult.

based on the geometry of the 13b, 10.0:1 is about as high as it gets. mazda has never made anything higher; and if someone did i'd imagine there woul be porblems with consistent combustion since the "bathtub" of the rotor face would be so flat.
no one has made aftermarket rotors yet to my knowledge, so sufice to say it would be VERY expensive.
