So I been out for the rotary scene for a while now..
I been looking around for options to do with the 7 (90T2) that needs a rebuild.
I was considering doing a 13BRE swap but I noticed people aren't really doing these swaps anymore?

Yeah, I searched around and saw maybe 2 people actually doing the swap.
I was considering picking up a RE engine and swapping the S5 Turbo housing and rotors over.
Depending on how my current engine looks. I can't say for sure until I bring the engine to work to remove the flywheel nut.

Nice set up Alpha.
I did notice these engines are hard to come by. A lot has changed since I browsed this forum.
I currently have the engine torn apart but I'm debating if I should just find a RE instead.
Anyone have any places they recommend to get an RE from?

I got the engine disassembled but I need your opinions if I should even rebuild this.

if you need to smog the car, the stock engine is better. the visual is pretty tough lately.

We are in the process of installing one in an 85 GSL-SE right now.

California does suck for smogs though.
Where did you locate your 13B-RE ?

... and if you have to rebuild the 13bre you get from god knows where, then your in the same position sans a few thousand dollars. Places are not giving consumers the details of where the engine came from, how many miles, compression, time it sat, etc. They will not warranty them to boot! I'd rebuild an engine all day before taking a chance like that because I'm not rich and can not gamble.
