13B re?????
i have herd of the engine and have herd only good things, but i was wondering is this engine realy THAT good? everyone i talk to says that it's better than the 13bt or the 3rd gen motor but whats the major differences? how easy is it to build hpr with? and is it realy worth the price? (2000$)... i have 133,000 miles on my stock engine and am looking to replace it, but i don't want just another stock engine, so that left me with three choices, 13bt, 13b-re and a 20b. the 20b of coarse is out of reach but after about a year or so i might be able to get the RE.. if anyone has done this or knows how the engine runs please post back.... o ya also another thing does anyone know about how much this will efect the weight balance in my car?

Small primary ports - probably smallest out of 13BT and 13B-REW.
Largest secondary ports - probably biggest out of 13BT and 13B-REW.
The 13B-REW probably have the biggest port area if you take both primary and secondary intake ports together.
Cosmo engines (13B-RE and 20B) have better (rear) stat gear bearings (i.e. 3-window) versus 13BT.  Arguably not as good as the 13B-REW 9-window bearings.
Cosmo engines run 9.0:1 CR's, which is the same as the Kouki 13BT and 13B-REW engines.
13B-REW has the highest oil pressure stock - around 100psi.
My observations - the Cosmo (and 13BT) have better intake manifold design for high RPM power.  The 13B-REW longer runners for more for low and mid range power - the large butterflies on the TB make up a little for the long intake paths, but this is still not the "optimum" design for high RPM power.
The 13B-REW is still a superior motor, IMHO.  It is the last "13B" motor Mazda has produced, so it should have all the latest enhancements (i.e. large combined intake ports, higher oil pressure, deeper oil grooves, etc.).
The Cosmo motors, especially the 13B-RE is an attractive option to drop into an FC.  There a couple of verndors that sell pre-made engine mounts that allow drop-in installs of the engine block itself.

Ok My engine is 13Bt Primary plate,13B-Rew Housings and 13B-Re Secondrys.
I hav'nt had it running yet so i cant tell you how it goes but i know i had quite a job geting a set of Re secondry plates.
To date the list of Mods (engine alone) are
Extended Port 13bt Primarys
Bridge Ported 13bre Secondrys
Ported 13brew Housings
Clearanced 13brew Rotors + 2pc 2mm apex tips
80psi Regulator
Hardened Staitionry gears + Window bearings
Thermo Pellet Mod
Sump Baffle plate
Omp 2 Stroke Mod
I thinks thats it?
I would like to point out i had to mod the Inlet Manifold to fit the Re plates correctly.
