13B Ported
I installed a 13B from Atkins, I have a flooded engine when driving around town. Two questions.
1. Is this due to the Porting of the Engine from Atkins.
2. I read in another site that I should install a cutout switch from the EFI fuse.
non related are the installation instructions for installing a new top easily understood by a layman?
Can anyone recommend a vendor for a new top.
Chris

What kind of port do you have? What kind of fuel/timing management do you have (stock? modified? standalone?)? Does it flood while driving or after you shut it down and try to start it back up? If it's on start up, leaky injectors or low compression can cause that. There are probably other causes but those are common issues.
Do you mean a new top for a vert?

Stock
Thanks for the reply.
It is all stock with the exception of the porting done prior to purchase.
Injectors are working fine. I had a local mechanic check them.
It floods after driving around not on start up.
Yes I need to install a new vert top. Looking at manufacturers. It appears that I can accomplish the labor, but inst. are always easier after you are finished and blogging about it.
Thanks

Injectors: Did this mechanic actually flow test them or remove them and clean them with special equipment? I haven't heard of the average shop being able to do this.
There are endless ways to port a motor, it would be helpful if we knew what kind of port it is. Some basic types are streetport, bridge port, half bridge port, peripheral port... Was this motor just rebuilt? Is it a used motor, not rebuilt?
In the meantime though, something that is fairly easy to check is compression, and while you're at it you can check your plugs for irregularities and damage.

What do you mean it floods while driving? You're stalling at some point when the car tries to idle (at a light, etc...)?
As far as top replacements, there a number out there from Robbins to Qwiktops. Some sell through ebay too. Local shops can also have them made, since the templates have floated around quite a bit. If I were you, I'd look into getting it professionally installed too. Setting the glass alone is going to be a huge pain.
