TX "1 inch shifter play"

the shifter on my TII has about a 1 inch play on it while the car is in gear driving down the road. it does not matter what gear it is in but the play is in all directions while it's in that gear. not sure if it had always done this or even just recently, but i was just daydreaming in the car today while driving and noticed it at a traffic light. just wondering if anyone else has the same situation or noticed tha it happened all of a sudden?. on another note the mazda dealer here that is on N75 in Richardson is honoring mazdaUSA recall extension for all FC drivers and passenger seatbelt motors and door rails "NO QUESTIONS ASKED". even if your car had already had the recalls done before. my drivers side had been done twice and passengers 3 times and i am bringing my car in on wednesday for replacement.

TX

hey *** you might look at my # of posts and call me a noob, but I have had my T2 since 1994. my car has had minimal issues with it since i bought it so i dont have alot of experience working on such small stuff like a shifter. I have rebuilt quite a few motors in my time so please try and be alittle more respectful to your fellow RX-7 owners ok.

thank you freeman that is all i needed to know, was not sure if it was a bigger problem or not. I certainly did not need any childish comments, I come to this forum for serious answers to any issues that might arise on my car. thank you again for the concise answer.

Your most important resource on this forum will be the FAQ sticky at the top of this section, and the Archives above that. 99% of common questions (including shifter bushings) are answered in those two places and checking them will certainly give you faster results then posting for an answer. If the FAQ and archives both fail (this is very rare as both contain all common questions) then the search feature is your next best bet. A search for "loose shifter" or "shifter play" would have turned up many past threads dealing with this issue.

Don't mind the people who just post "Search". They are trying to make themselves feel important.

Mazdatrix.com has a great write-up on how to replace the shifter bushing. Very useful.
