Well, this one just happened to me. I had just got done doing some ac work. I unbolted and moved the power steering pump out of the way so I could get better access to the compressor. Well I did it where I only had to disconnect the little line on the bottom right-hand side. Well, I got everything back together, started it up, and ended up with power steering fluid all over the place because I forgot to reconnect the line. Oh well, i needed to change the fluid anyway. Still, I hate cleaning up a mess.:crzyeye:

I was kind of tired and I've noticed my rate of oversight increases with tiredness. :wallbash:

When I was 18, I had just put a new engine into my car. Well, when going to see my then girlfriend, I thought I would be smart and floor it to see how much power it had. Well, the throttle bracket was bent somewhat (little did I know) and the gas got stuck wide open. Imagine this....1970 Camaro, 4-speed with 396 big block floored with pedal stuck to the floor. Yep, panic set in....I instantly thought...turn it off.....again, bad idea....when I turned the key, it locked the steering wheel while I was going towards a curve. Got it turned back to the on position just in time....Whew!!!!!.....scared the heck out of me, and made me make sure I doubled checked things from then on.
I am now 43 and it is still a very vivid memory. :-)

The day I finished my TII swap, I tried all day to get the car to crank. I thought I had everything in and the motor was just ridiculously flooded. Car wouldn't crank, so after about three hours of trying, I went in the house to vent. I read through the wiring diagrams and realized I forgot the solenoid resistor pack. Went back out the next morning and plugged in the pack, car cranked on the first try.

I then let the car idle for a few minutes and noticed coolant GUSHING out of the overflow tank. I shut off the car and go into full stress panic mode. After the car cooled down, I pulled the cap off of the thermostat and realized the cap didn't have the pressure fitting on there, it was just a flat cap and there was nothing to prevent coolant from going into the overflow tank. I dunno why I put that cap on there in the first place.

Car runs fine now. I knocked the AFM plug out when I replaced my turbo, and the car wouldn't crank and it stressed me out for an entire day. I then double checked everything the following day, and noticed it wasn't even in all the way. Clicked it back in and it fired right up.

forgot to check oil levels a few times, car was running like crap till yesterday until I did a oil change now it runs like a champ

wasn't my doing, but i assisted.

A lot of my local friends, including myself, are 2.2 2.5 8v Turbo Dodge fans. And i will start off by saying that these cars make the FC electronics look GREAT.

Anywho, my friend has a 1987 Dodge Town and Country Wagon, roof rack, wood paneling and all. And about 280hp.... :p

Well, we had been fiddling with a fuel leak and after getting it sorted, but tried starting the car. wouldnt start. replaced the the injector harness (a few times). wouldnt start. Started checking timing, the hall effect, etc. Wouldnt start.

i was sitting in the car with the key on while my friend was checking with the scanner. Thats when i noticed the gas gauge was dead empty....

HAHAHa. This thread makes me laugh!, and cry at the same time... Ever since I had my car(87 TII rebuild, mild port) I've had acceleration issues.I have replaced everything and I mean everything! i HAVE POSTED my car on craigslist a good 4 times, but never accepted a deal , even though my friends, family, even my boss think I should get a "new car". I hung in tho, bottom line after stress and thinking my secondaries weren't firing, my MAF was broke, grounding issues, and a whole assortment of other issues it turned out it was a cracked snail pipe!
O!!! the relief to know its such a simple fix. after all the new parts she runs like shes off the lot!
I immediately bought wheels to celebrate!!(Rota p45r 17x7.5 45+,17x9 25offset)

I was rolling my car out of the garage into the car port with the door open one time and the door got stuck on one of the car port columns and bent the crap out of it, I was pretty ticked at myself for that.

Putting in my oil cooler and broke the water sensor at the bottom of the radiator off. Doh! Anyone have a spare one?

A couple years ago I put in a racing bucket before taking the car to the track, I had not used this seat before and wanted to test it out and see if I could still move my legs around easily. Well I punched it in first gear which reminded me real quickly that I had not bolted the seat rail down yet hahaha. I fell back but since I was in first gear still it slowed down real quick and I was able to reposition myself and stop the car hahaha.

OHhhh just remembered an oldie but a goodie haha.
My first time working on a big single turbo FC about 8 years ago. The turbo was so big that I was curious how much suction it really has. I put my hand in front of it reved the engine up by the throttle cable with my left hand....
Thank God for my cat like reflexes hahaha or else I would have lost an inch or soo off my right hands fingers hahaha. Actually it sucked my hand in but I was able to cup the turbo inlet with my hand instead of getting my finges sucked it.

i was doing i clutch swap on my 90 n/a for the first time and i didnt have the proper tool to get the bearing out of the fly wheel (throwout bearing?) a freind suggested taking a chisel to it well after three damn days of pounding on this thing i come to my senses and get the tap and dye set out yea it was out in 2 sec ... i wrecked that car a month later fyi steer clear of mailboxes

WHAT THE FUCK. This is why every turbo should have a filter on it lol.

First one: started up the new motor in my TII and had forgotten that when I replaced the oil cooler lines, I never fully tightened 2 of the bolts. ~4 quarts of oil sprayed all over the ground within seconds. Had to make a trip to the auto parts store before I could crank the motor again :).

I made it back in my house and to the sink before I blacked out. Won't do that again...

ok, I'll share my shame...

So I was working one a N/A to turbo conversion in the middle of December. It was freaking cold out, so I only worked on it for a few minutes at a time. So I was at the point where I had everything done except to install the turbo and manifold. That was it! Then the conversion would be done. After all my hard work of rebuilding the motor, installing a T2 drivetrain, and getting everything all set-up, the next day I would have her running. So as I finished up that day I stuffed paper towels in the exhaust ports to keep little critters out looking for a place to sleep. The next day I went out to work on it, completely overjoyed that I would have a running rx7 by the end of the day. I was so excited I decided I would try and start it without any exhaust just for the hell of it. So in my rush to see it run, I had completely forgot about the paper towels I has stuffed in the exhaust port. Not a problem one would think, the compression would blow them out, right...? well kind of, it blew the rear one out, but the front one just happen to be in far enough that the apex seal grabbed the paper towel and sucked it in. SOB!!! I ended up having to remove the motor and tear it down again to get all the pieces out

...and that my friends is about the stupidest thing I've done with an FC.

kind of a dumb question but...would it really have mattered if paper towel got into the engine? wouldnt it just combust?....your kind of making me want to try this lol

no, it absolutely refused to start with it in there. Not to mention I was 17 at the time and paranoid about everything. luckily it was the front rotor, so I didn't have to tear the engine apart completely.

Once again in moment of impatience I have made my car inoperable!
So I'm replacing the hose from the intercooler to the air bypass solenoid valve due to a crack. Very simple right? Well..I grab a flathead to help safely shimmy the pipe off and proceed to delicately tug on the pipe to remove it from the intercooler(I tried to remove it off the solenoid valve first but it wasn't gonna happen w/o something breaking!)Just before I decide, "Im gonna cut it in half and go about it that way", the pipe snaps off..with the damn solenoid valve connector piece in it!!, rendering my car once again INOPERABLE!!!!:wallbash:

such a simple fix gone horribly wrong!

I had just done a custom turbo on my 91 prelude then after a few test drives, tuning and checking everything out it was time for a WOT run to see this bitch had!

forgot to latch the hood... flew off at about 110mph and must have went 100ft in the air... landed on the HWY then was instantly ran over by an 18 wheeler, the timing was amazing. I drove home with no hood :wallbash:

the hood hit the top of the car so hard it shattered the sunroof and buckled the roof beyond repair... a few weeks later I parted out the car after driving around with a buckled roof and broken sunroof... It was ugly -but fast. :lol:
