Who says you cant find one hell of a deal these days? I picked up an 87 t2 a little over a week ago for 1000. Ran but the kid had to get under it, and jiggle the starter wires while someone was on the key to get it to start.....first clue. And while running it would shake violently.. hmmm... he replaced the batt, starter, and alternator with no effect..wtf.. ha so i bought it took it home and chaced the batt cable ground back.. to find the bell housing bolt that secured it had come out... starter issue fixed, blam, took the car out and no more shaky shake. Ha lovin life so for 1000 the price of reg and ins and thermostat ( preventative maint) i got one sexy beast 87 s4 t2... thanks for tuning in for my 100th posr... bahahaha

Nice deal! I paid $400 for mine. The guy was asking $1000.
Upon arrival, he mentioned that he thought the apex seals were bad and just needed a "quick replace". It fired right up and sounded good. Test drive showed that under load it would shudder and miss...not seals....I didn't tell him that. I played up the apex seals explaining that it was going to cost me at least $600 to do the rebuild myself and offered him $400 cash.
He took it, I drove off. Around the corner I swapped the trailing coil wires (he had them backwards). Drove the car for almost two years until the blown coolant seals rendered it dead. Upon rebuild (~$600), the housings and seals were in great condition.
LOL

Nice buy yes it was on cl, the guy had simply no clue on rotarys, or quite possibly cars in general, i mean if the starter wont turn check your conections before throwing 300 worth of parts at it... but i do appreciate the new parts.. cars only got 115000 on it and i drove it from co to north dakota back to work over 900 miles and no issues
