you said if you sold it you would buy another one- why bother?
if its a 1st gen you want, and money is not tight- then just buy another!
if your eligible for classic insurance it will make owning more then one worth it, I pay less then $200 to fully insure my 2 FCs for agreed value.
I dont have a number for my vert, but if I had to come up with a number that would leave me no doubt about selling it that number would be $20k.
most FD guys will tell you that a $10k FD is usually in need of TLC- there aint no perfect $10k FDs, people who think it is perfect have low standards

The market for Rotaries around here is kind of tight, you don't see them at all, and we mostly know who is who around here, if you go to the meets and all. It is very hard to find an FC/FB in good condition. Almost all of them are run down. I don't think the car is over priced, if i add all the money put in to it i go over 10k and that's not even including the gt40 that i am going to get for it. The Blue book for my car is about 5k and i have more than 5k invested in it so the price is fair. This is not the first offer i get, and i have received notes on my car asking me if i'm selling the car because they would buy it. I just love my 7 and even though many people would sell theirs i would think about it 100 times before i let it go, so i figured i asked to see how many peole responded... what's funny is i remember all the hard time the fvking car made me go through and all the bvllshit...

I know I'll never in a million years get out what I put into any car, so I keep them One day when I'm dead and gone some lucky bastard is going to end up with some nice rides. But I don't see a point in flipping it, even if you'd get 2x the amount of money you normally you get when trying to sell (10k vs. 5k) its just not worth that few grand to give up the special toy.
And you know damn well you'll never build the same car for that 10K either.

for 10k, you'll buy a crappy FD, then it will need 20k worth of work.
If I were to sell my car, 10k would be the LOWEST I could go, then I'd get out of the game. no point in selling it if I am gonna dump another truck load of money into something else...
Who? Me? I bought a 91T2, leather everything, all options for 1200 and put 800 into it... I got a NICE gain!

there's not ONE PERSON I KNOW who sold their car and had not taken a loss...

Only thing I have to say is with the market low people WILL be selling their beloved/project car(s)
If 10k is not a lot of money to you sell it, buy another 7 that needs TLC and go from there. Life goes one-way forward! DO IT and make another rx-7 bigger and better then this one.

sell it. i was about to sell my base na for 5k, but selling it would triple my insurance i was 16 at the time. but in retrospect i would sold it to help put me into buying a mazdaspeed6. now i end up with my ported na and a mazda 6 4 banger (DD). yup sell it and get a cheap FD, more to love!
ACTUALLY i meant to say i was offered 5k for my base na ported because this kid at my school was absolutely in love with it. anyways my dad decided not to sell it because of the triple price increase in the insurance. he now has a 240sx auto that hes not satisfied with. poor kid. but im happy, lowered/watanabes/streetport only missing a TURBO! and a flux capacitator i kid i kid

**** i would sell it and get another $5k cash for a fd. I've got offers for $8k on my white on black s5 t2 with rebuilt streetported engine with suspension upgrades, Hks RS Intake, Racing Beat Exhuast, Wolf 3D V4 ECU, etc. I told him no, because it took me a while to find this, and over here in Fresno, its hard to find a Turbo FC period. Only 3 Turbo FCs here in Fresno. I saw this thread and if he offered me $10k cash, I might just do it to get an FD. Its easy to get another fc turbo for me.

my vert - would have never sold but it had an untimely death.
my new car in my avatar - 10000 and it would be gone in a heartbeat. I really didnt see the car come to fruition or but any true elbow grease and blood, sweat, and tears into it. Just put cash in and saw the result. My vert on the other hand was pieced together by me and I had such a connection with it that I cried when they towed it away to the crusher after I flipped it

Is it worth $10k on the private seller market? No, usually much less. But you probably have $9k (give or take) in work done on it, plus labor, plus the price of the car itself. So is it worth $10k to you? Probably more. If you still want a modded sports car, it'd be dumb to sell this one and start all over. If you want to move on to something else, this is a great deal and I'd jump on it.

my folks want me to go back to school... so i would really consider sellin my 7 if i do go back.. I dont want the hassle of worrying about the car i.e. theft etc... Peoples cars get stolen from schools sadly. Its a shame, people trying to better their lives, and people come and ruin it by taking thier cars.

i am really temped to part out my 13bre project. it is taking me about 2 years now and it is getting longer and longer. sometimes i dont want to wait anymore. i was thinking about getting rid of it and just getting something else. but then when i thought about it. i was just going to get another rx7. then i was going to just put the cosmo in it again. so when i thought it through, what im doing now is going to be the same as if i sold it and then bought another one and did it again. it is like labor lost on the first one and then the same labor again on the second. but as of now, i wont sell my rx7. i got enough invested in it, maybe not as much as everyone else but i got enough. i hope to see all your "7" around soon. i dont see much rx7 around my place, i maybe know like a few guys but most the poeple here are hondas..lol..

This is going to sound ridiculous to most here, but keep reading and it will make sense.
At $100,000, I wouldn't consider it.
At $200,000 I might give it some thought if it was cash.
At $300,000 I would accept a cheque.
At $500,000 I would sell the car.
Those numbers seem high, but think about it a bit.
I can total about $35,000-$40,000 in direct investment over my ownership of the car. These are "hard items" for which I have receipts or some physical object.
However, how is time valued? For the last 6 years this car has been my life in the sense that all my spare time went into it. We're talking 6 years of thinking about it every minute of the day. Bridges were burned, relationships were sacrificed, and I have invested an enormous amount of time into building this car. To me, the value of my car is the last 6 years of my life.
After I bought the car in 1999, it was just a car. The mental value of it went up in the summer of 2000 when I invested the entire summer into painting it. At that point it was no longer about the value of the metal and plastic that makes up the vehicle, but the time and emotional investment I had put into it. As I mod it more and more, that value gets higher.

time + relationships = PRICELESS...
[for everything else, there's a mastercard ]
but in all honesty, 10 grand is undoubtedly an OPPORTUNITY to start something new.... on behalf of the bored and fed up, who wouldn't accept 10 grand for their ~$5,000 Kelly Blue book valued FC?
