Existing Equipment
Current setup:
Standard halogen headlights
Vehicles
Wide variety of cars, trucks, sport bikes (if you are unsure, contact TRS today)
Ideal Upgrade For
Vehicles that use 9003, 9004, 9007, H4, H13 halogen bulbs (H4 adapter plates included)

A quick search yielded that the oem headlights are "86-97 Mazda RX7 7x6 H6054". This means that you should be able to purchase a replacement (H4 sealed headlamp) that is a two piece design that allows a removable H4 bulb to be inserted instead of built in.
You should be able to bake the new headlights to peel the housing and lenses apart. Remove the tiny reflector. The projector (with correct H4 adapter washers) will thread through the front of the housing and lock in place behind with a giant nut. You may then rtv the lenses back on.
However, I forgot that in this application, there will be no backing to protect the pertruding part of the housing and somewhat exposed bulb. So a backing or "dust cover" will have to be fabricated (fiberglass?). And the headlights rotate, so you would have to make sure there is a few inches behind and under it to rotate.
Crap. I forgot about that part. Even still, a bit of fabbing and creativness is still bundles under 800$ im sure.

Once again you can't just stick the projector in and screw it on it does not fit, even with sanding and a little cutting it does not fit if you don't believe me then go ahead and buy the materials and try it.

they sell a h4 it, a h4 housing is a h4 housing, period.
and tuscan installed them in his bike, I cant see space being any more limited then a bike

I just saw your other post, I'll say this again, the projector is too big for the housing so it does not fit.

I don't have anything to back it up except my experience and it doesn't fit. A traingle doesn't fit into a circle hole but we don't need an example because we already know, it's the same concept.

i was just searching around, I see you did it but used the larger e55 shrouds, are you sure that is not the issue? Maybe if you had used a more compact shroud?

The only thing that makes them headlamp specific (H4, H1 or whatnot) is a lock washer or spacer thing that fits the reflector specifically. It's been a year since I installed them I can't quite picture it in my head.

My ninja has a back housing separate from the reflector. In my case, the headlight housing would seal the whole reflector and projector together.
In the case of a headlight for an FC, the back of the projector where the locking nut and bulb goes in would be exposed.
The video has some overall measurements. I would take some measurements of an FC headlight and see what you have for clearance in the car. The projector can also be attached by 4 holes on the bracket near the lenses. You could make a fiberglass housing that attaches to the lenses, comes to bolt the projector in the 4 bolt holes, extends more outward and closer together past the end of the projector with a hole for the grommet. Could even mold and sell them dirt cheap as long as the dimensions in overall length work with the FC.
It's worth the effort to have quality projectors if you want HID's. The ebay conversion kits are crap.

There was a thread where a guy retrofitted Acura TSX projectors into his FC and it worked perfect. I can't find the darn thread now though. I could have sworn it was in the FC archive.

It was njgreenbud, he had them for sale but said he couldnt get his lights to go down because of how far the projector stuck out the back of the housing. Im sure a quick call would get this "will it wont it" question sorted out

there are different projectors, some obviously deeper then others.
The HID guys have said the area behind the lights will need to be modified a little bit, its been so long since I have had the lights out I dont even remember what it looks like bac there.
Retrofit already sold tons of conversions for FDs and FCs so its not a question of IF its a question of people jumping in and doing it, or paying someone else to do it like sakebomb, my local modifier told me about $650- $700 with supplying everything including spraying the inside of the housings, but I am sure this is something I can handle especially considering they sell plug and play harness/relays
there are actually dedicated hid retro forums with alot of good information on them

I've been working on a setup with a mini d2s projectors I got from TRS. I used some cheap ebay housings with a clear glass lens. The projector does "bolt" in but the housing is not deep enough and I'm in the process of making a bubble lens out of acrylic to clear the projector in the front. Otherwise they function 100%. I have under $400 into this setup.
This was just for testing, the alignment wasn't spot on.

reger- why not try moving the projector back to use the original lens?
is it because you cannot have anything to mount it to?
if you looked at sake bombs pictures on the trs forum you can see where they used 2 part foam when they did the FD lights, I still cant figure that one out im wondering if thats what they used to hold the projectors in place eliminating the need to fabricate a new part for the rear of the light.
My idea is to make a fiberglass shroud for the back part of the light, I just have other things going on right now but will have these lights sorted out by the spring.
