Yup. No rebuild either. Bought it from my Aunt in '05 who bought it new in 88. She wasn't the best driver, so there's some visible (poor) paint blends where body work has been done, but still original core engine.
Had an engine bay fire in Dec, but damage was minimal (the usual casualties for that; FPR, PD, vacuum lines, OMP lines, oil injectors, wiring harness, TPS, etc.)
Have replaced nickel and dime stuff over the past 5 years; starter, battery, alternator, PS lines, vacuum booster, AC compressor (tried to do without, but it was just too damn hot).
Serisouly thinking about fixing it up cosmetically; rims/wheels/bodywork/paint/etc. Afraid that if I do, it'll up and die on me.
From May/June 05. paint is not as nice any more

Ha. I never hear that from folks I talk to 'cause none of 'em know what the hell a rotary is. When they hear 1.3 L, they just scratch their heads, and ask if I get like 50mpg or something

When I first got it, I was babying it... running it at lower RPMs, etc. Then I read where it might be bad on it to run it that low, so I started running it at higher RPMs. Low and behold it actually started running better! Now when I have a passenger and they listen to the engine while I'm shifting, they give me **** saying "dude, your going to ruin that engine running it so high". So I have them lean over and look at the tach and point out the 7k red line

well that is awesome. I know alot of people who open their mouths about rotarys from what they hear about them..
I like to say
There is 2 kinds of people, those who fear the rotary from what they heard about it, and those who have experienced and love them for their performance.
Piston engines are just more idiot proof/take more user error. but take care of maintenance on rotary and its all good.
