Went to put my wheels on today. Right after the guy wrote down "Mazda Rx7" on his clipboard, walked over to my friend's truck looked at my wheels and tires and then said "We'll put these on your Nissan."

When I first bought my car, I was explaining to my homie why it shot flames, when his dad decided to throw in his 2 cents by saying
Him "that's got one of the rotated engines right?"
Me "uhhh rotary, yeah"
Him "yeah, I wanted to put one of those things in my truck, but it's rear wheel drive"
Me "ohhhhh alright" (didn't want to embarass him)
Him "plus, THOSE THINGS RUN HOTTT!" At which point, I was so embarassed just for being part of the conversation, I HAD to change the subject

I don't know if this counts, but yesterday around 7 am I wake up to taco bell talk in the parking lot to my townhomes (the headrest of my bed is against the window that faces the parking lot). This is where I keep my fc. I get up to take a **** and look out the window to see 3 mexicans literally hanging over my car. One on the passenger side where I couldn't see what he was doing and another with his head up against my windshield looking in. The other was doing the same but with the rear windshield. I immediately think these mother f*ckers are breaking into my car! I swear I'm not racist but when you see a bunch of mexicans hanging over your favorite car next to their van (that probably doesn't have insurance) that's still running you'd think the same. So I threw on some clothes faster than I ever had before and casually went outside pretending to grab something from my car. So I guess they couldn't speak very well english cuz all one guy said was, "nice car maing!" I was like thanks.
Apparently they were there to stain our new fences that they just put in... I felt so racist afterwards, haha.

I saw one person asking why speedhunters doesn't make a feature about RX7 day here in the U.S.

Lol forgot about this thread. My story from picking up my S4.
I'll set the scene, I had rented a dolly to bring her home, and had to go to work with her in the dolly:
I noticed 3 guys standing and walking around, so he being super cautious walked over,(since it was attached to a dolly) and pretended to grab something out of my truck. Guy asked " man, wish I could afford these" other guy was like "hey buddy how much you pay?" I just said "enough" they were standing behind it now, and one guy said "poor Porsche, someones put Mazda emblems on it" I turned around and was like " or maybe it is a Mazda rx7?"
My favorite part. "no way it's a Mazda rx7, looks nothing like the one From fast and the furious"
I just shook my head and walked away

When I was browsing around for an RX7 and found a nice FB (but really wanted an FC), I chatted up with the owner. Holy hell did he hate the FC, calling it a Porche ripoff and not a "true RX7". Guy liked his FBs though... had a whole garage full of parts and a second FB under the covers.

depends are you a good driver? is he a good driver? if you can drive and he can to you might be able to give him a run for his money. wrx's aren't really all that. my buddy in his eight took a local one that thinks he is all bad *** by like two lengths. then everyone around started asking what the eight had in it. me and my buddy just kinda looked at each other and laughed.

had a convo with my mechanic friend, not so much a doesn't know rotaries thing more just a not paying attention
me:know where to get tcw3 rated two stroke?
him:that oil?
me:yeah for use in fuel injected situations, low ash.
him:I'll ask repco and couple other places...no one does the oil.why you gotta use it?
me:because rotary. need to premix coz I've got s5 engine the electric omp won't work with series 4 ecu. need tcw3 rated two stroke coz carbon build up kills engines
him:my rotor mate said run castrol 20/50
me:I've got engine oil haha I'm after 2 stroke to mix into my fuel
him: oh I thought you said you were after oil haha yea I can get you cheap 2 stroke. haha

My wife points at it and goes "Look!!" and before I could even think about it, I said "QUIET!! You'll scare it away!" like it was a deer or something. Lol.

So this actually happened today. I was driving the FC home and as I pulled up to a stoplight, I became aware that my center console clock had lit up. My wife points at it and goes "Look!!" and before I could even think about it, I said "QUIET!! You'll scare it away!" like it was a deer or something. Lol.
It will happen. It's a rare sighting.

I saw a thread in the first gen section similar to this one and wanted to start one in the second gen section. Share stories about the funny/stupid/random etc. things that people have said about our cars. My friends and I always have stories for eachother about the ignorant/ stupid things people say about our modified cars and just cars in general, but the stories about rotaries and rx7s are the best. SO share your stories! Ill add a few experiences I have had here but Ill add more later if I remember any or encounter more idiotic comments after today. I try not to make fun but to educate. Anyway here ya go:
kid from school "yea i think i've heard of a rx7 before. its a sports car right? what kinda engine- a v6 or a v8?"
boss "wait your car is a '91! i thought it was like a 2000 or sumthin like that"
girl from school "yea i know what a rotary is! you told me before- it has no pistols!" (and she wants a RX-8 for her first car.....)
another kid from school "Only 1.3 liters! HAHAHAHA what a small piece of crap! Whats it got like 6hp!?" (of course he wants a mustang.....)
my favorite said by many including all of my friends "Holy **** thats loud as hell!"
and Im sure there will be more- everyone else add yours if u got any!
