"Ow, it's a Mazda" when they looked at the back. Got in my car and drove off......fast!

Doode... I remember going to a hyundai dealer in my tiburon to put in an application. Everyone was asking me what kind of car it was, the mechanics and manager. They didn't hire me. I could never get hired at any hyundai dealer yet none of them knew squat about the cars they sell or work on.

Dealers suck. I've had nothing but bad experiences with them. They love hiring idiots.

co worker = cw

cw: so it in an inline 4 ?
me: no lol its a rotary
cw: a rotary ?
Me: yeah a rotary it doesnt have pistons
cw:wtf are you stupid ? all engines have pistons
me: ( i basically explain a rotary engine to him , even show him diagrams)
cw: looks at me like im crazy (he proceeds to call his friend who is a mechanic) has a 20 minute argument over the phone on how every engine is piston driven

Haha, pretty much exactly what I would have wrote down. I love people's faces when I'm premixing at the gas station.

Premixing looks are hilarious. I've gotten those some. One Guy told me not to ask for help when I screwed up my valves because of it.

I agree. When I told my friend that I premixed he said, "You're not helping disprove the fact that your car is lawnmower." His family are muscle heads, have 68 camaro and an 04 mustang. Although he was always my co-pilot when I'd do mtn runs, autox and drift events and fell in love with the fc, and ended up buying one a year later. I told him to be patient and wait for the right one, but of course bought the first one he saw. An s4 base model, and that car never ran properly and had to sell it after 4 months. He said he's gonna just buy a turbo when he finds the right one. Haha, I guess we have to learn from our mistakes.

So the other week I pull into a gas station and I see this hippy in a heated discussion with some guy in a hopped up ford truck about how driving the vehicle around town by him self hurts the Ozone layer and he should be ashamed to him self for not buying a higher MPG car

He then turns to me and looks at my FC then proceeds to pull out his smart phone, a minute later he walks up to me and says "Thanks for driving a 1.3l the world will thank you for driving a sports car with a small engine"

all I could say was, Your welcome!

I hate going to any parts store anymore. I got an 86 na with a sbc with an oil cooler setup that takes an sh1(popular ford filter) and just getting simple things is a pain. I got about six cars on my account just to cover for one so I dont get too many queations. My funniest story is I was trying to figure out a good bushing for my motor mount and I asked the guy about hockey pucks for a grand prix and a hole bunch of other options and he asked the car and I simply replied 86 rx7. He pulls it up and replied now see it wasnt that hard was well. Well considering I dont have a rotory it wont work and he replied he couldnt help me at all. Long story short I got everything and fits beutifully, its still rough getting an oil filter but its worth it having a good handling car and straight line performer. Truley the best of both worlds.

Yesterday a guy at the gas station told his friend that it was a Mazda Supra, and his friend said he owned one new about 6 years back (yes, a second gen).

I don't get any funny stories like any of those all I ever get is "you'll love your rx7 till you have to replace your apex seals" so I usually reply "you will love your car till you have to replace your piston rings, rod bearings, head gasket/s."

After having my car towed back to school from the emissions site, my machine shop teacher was leaving school and his first words were "whats the matter, couldn't get the airplane to fly right?" I lol'd and said "no man, the wing angle wasn't right and I wasn't getting enough lift!"

Our shop teachers like to joke about it being an airplane becuse of the 'rotary' engine, but they at least know and respect the car... to a point haha. Also have a history teacher who said he had an '88 Vert, but lost it in a fire

i have a black fc with a new paint job dropped of staggered wheels, i show up to a meet, i notice how people were starring down the car. i park get out, "dude your supra is amazing"..

i pull out the premix bottle at a gas station. guy at the next pump says ''you dont need to put oil there, the motor does it by itself" it thought he was reffering to the omp pump. i say "no no i removed the omp pump so now i have to use the premix" he says " i work on these motors alot and i know what im talking about" i say " yea i built my motor too so i know what im talking about too" NOTICE* this is how he first got my attention "is that an rx7? 12A right?

now i also have a first gen bridge ported turbo.... i was parking at school and this kid comes up to me" dude theres something wrong with your motor, you need to add oil. trust me im going to school to be a mechanic"

One morning i was working on my car, finished, then turned it on. As it was on and warming up in my driveway, my next door neighbor comes over and comments about my car. "Nice car! Sounds like you have an aggressive cam in there" me and my bro just look at each other and smiled haha

Had a guy once say he swore my car was RX-6 lol. I get the loud exhaust and the lawnmower comments too but the worst was "what year 240 is that?"

Drove my streetported 87' TII to Oriley's to get some parts and when I went to check out, the cashier said...

Him: That's a loud 240 you got?
Me: It's an RX7.
Him:Oh yeah, that is an RX7, isn't it.
Me: Nodded in amusement and went on my way.

My brother and I were working on my car in the garage. Now keep in mind the car is totally stripped, no fenders, bumper, hood, or rear hatch... let's just call it a shell.
We order a pizza for lunch. Pizza lady walks up and says. "Hey, that looks fast! Is it a (Subaru) Brat?"
Biggest WTF moment I've had in a while... A BRAT?! Maybe it looks like a truck with no hatch.

Guy asked me at a gas station if it was a Toyota.
"No, It is a Mazda."
"Okay"

Wasn't stupid, but first question asked by someone.

I was getting ready for my drift event on saturday, and had two run ins. First guy was when I was washing the car. Some hick in a camo hat walks up and gives me the usual (rn=redneck),

rn- Dang, she looks fast, how quick is ur 1/4 mile?"
me- Don't know, I don't drag race.
rn- Well thats a nice porsche
me- Actually its a Mazda Rx-7

And I swear to god, every jackass I ever run into says the same damn thing
rn- Oh nice, I used to own one of those
me- I give him the wtf face and just don't respond.

He walks off and that was the end of it. Then I get home, and I'm just pulling up this guy walks up and all I here is
guy- mumble mumble rx-2
me- Its a Rx-7
guy- ya i know, have you seen the rx2 around here?
me- No?!? I know the guy right there has an FD, but I haven't seen an rx2 around here.
guy- Ya he ported his and it's a pretty quick little car. Yours sounds fantastic! Ported turbo, I bet thats gotta be fun.... You're ported right
me- *a little surprised* Ya, I am.
guy- thought so. I could here it. It's worth it, but it sucks watching the gas gauge go "peeeuuwwww" *as he dives his hand down. (Which was funny cuz I was just telling my friend who was with me how my gas gauge just drops so fast about 2 minutes before this convo)

Then just the usual b.s. chit chat for about 5 minutes. It so funny how the people who don't know nearly as much, ALWAYS act like they know everything, and the knowledgable guys are just way modest. I got two of the opposite sides of the spectrum in 15 minutes. I love it though, now that I daily my Honda, I never talk with strangers. But everytime I drive the seven, I can't go anywhere without talking to at least 3 or 4 different people. The car really is a convo starter. I never realized until I rarely drive the car.

I never got any of that attention. I daily'd mine for a year and half an not a damn person would stop me at the pump with the 2 cycle or anything.

My other car is a diesel Jetta and no one stops me with that when I fill up either. I supose I live in a boring *** area.
