but then again who am i to challenge the almighty Aaron cake: Demi god of the rx7
Because above 1500 RPM when the TPS reads zero and the boost/pressure sensor sees high vacuum, all fuel is cut. Injector time is zero. This is a standard function of all EFI system. It's called decel fuel cut. Otherwise the engine would buck, sputter pop and unburned fuel would end up in the exhaust. It's an important feature for fuel saving, emissions and how the car feels in general.

You don't need any fancy equipment to prove this. Just look it up in the training manual or Bosch L Jetronic manual:
http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/manuals/BO...n%20Manual.pdf

I'm a pretty good hypermiler and can get over 100MPG in my Insight on my way to work. However what's the point of hypermiling an RX-7?!?

rotary bunta,

your correct you would travel further by neutral coasting, rather than engine braking. Of course, on the street you would adjust to stop accordingly. You would still be using fuel for the total distance that it takes you to come to a stop while neutral coasting although, so you would most likely use more fuel.

pull into school one day with my 2 friends behind me in their cars, one is a 89 Z28 camaro and the other a eclipse with a body kit and paint job, we are all reving our engines abit as we pull in and are acting like we came outta "the fast and the furious", all of our car are mildly tuned and have all of the basic bolt on perfomance parts. a big group of extreamly cute but dumb girls run up to me and are yelling that my car is "shooting flames out of the shiny thing in the back and i better get out before it blows up", i just laugh and try to explain to them its normal and then flirt with them abit and give a few of them a rid around the parking lot, i get back and my friends are looking at me with their jaws to the floor standing all alone and ignored by their cars., i asked what was up and the both replied "we need a rotory" haha my rx7 is the best wingman ever

"I got a [stock] 07 accord 3.0 vtec n smoked almost everything [...] My friend has a rx7 n it's not even fast [...] hondas r sick they got a lot of hp stock [...] still a v6 can smoke it [in reference to my comment of how a stock s4 t2 does the 1/4 mile in about the same amount of time, 59hp less]"

Ive taken the best parts of a fb rant from Mario Kodhimaj, whoever that is.

Of course I do, for those 10 seconds or less, I'm free. Haha all kidding aside though my 7 has been a awsome wingman more then once. My car isn't even that good looking yet and it still gets more respect then my buddies "pimp" eclipse.

Trust me I'm with you guys haha I don't understand it one bit, but I think I have a good theory, its somthing like being curious of the unknown. I'm sure if you guys saw a car that you have never seen before but are somewhat attracted to, you might go talk to the owner about it. So with the combonation of a unknown car like the fc, and having spit fire, its a natural attraction of curiousity. But that's just my theory haha

Driver: I used to race my crx and I would always beat the RX-7's in the corners but man are they quick. They're built for their speed.

I laughed to myself and try to hold back owning him in the whole its built for its handling. So instead I did it by explaining the almost perfect 50-50 weight distribution.
Really, really old quote, but I had to!

My friend, who now owns an AE86, had a CRX before, and he said it was by far the worst handling car he ever had, listing his Corolla GTI, Fiat Uno and AE86 way ahead of them. His 1.3 Corolla never got up to the speeds needed for handling so :P

Anyways, that car SNAPPED the rear out without warning, it was like a switch on the grip. His Corolla gave fair warning and slid out, this just jumped out. That car might have been built for handling, but it aint got any!

As for quotes, Ive got "Sell it", "Sell that crap", "You got screwed, sell it!" from my dad, brother, my friends, everyone really. And of course the "Dude, where is your car? Arent you done with it yet?". Damn, everytime I hear people say that, I am so ready to delete my for sale ad. Then I try to start the car, and my broken AFM makes me so angry I keep the ad! :P

I also had a dude claiming his Volvo 460 Sport was so fast, sportmodel, pointing on the plastic cover under the engine as the proof it was. Was it a 1.7 Turbo? No, 1.8 N/A. The same guy rode with me to a party, heared the turbo and the BOV, and asked me if I had a compress. I was like WTF? Thinking did he mean compressor as supercharger, or is he just so clueless? If I only could remember what he called the cams. Think he called them valveshaft, however in my native norwegian we got different words for shaft in the meaning crankshaft and camshaft, he used the first in combination with valves to make it the camshaft.

Not so related to my 7, but still hate people who THINK they know all about something, and stay with their claim no matter what! I figured one thing out: None in a radius of at least 150km knows as much as me about my specific car.

But Im lucky, none here to ask how my engine works, none have the competence to even ask!
