Roll Bar Paint - Flat, Satin or Gloss??

So I am getting a custom chromolly roll bar made. It is a street car. Red exterior with a black interior.

The bar is going to be black. But I am just not sure if I should do it flat, gloss or satin.

Let me know if you have an opinion.

i thought it would look nice if it was the same color red as your car, but that would make it stand out. so between those 3 id say satin

Why bother...
It's going to get covered with foam padding anyways...

Maybe. I still have to paint it anyway. But satin it is. Once we get it done I will decide about the padding.

The bar is all going to be behind the seats in a street car. I was contemplating the need for padding. I understand having padding on a bar near your head. I am only 5'9'' and I like to drive up on the wheel. My head is going to be a long way from this bar. I was not so sure about the need in this situation....

I was considering the padding more from an aesthetic point. The bar is 1 5/8" chromoly. I didn't see the need for larger diameter. I will have to wait to see it in the car. If it looks thin then I will for sure use padding. Since it is a street car I don't want to much padding hampering my visibility any more than the bar already will.

Actually the reason for having the bar are in this order.

1. Structural stability
2. I think they look cool.
3. Safety

That doesn't mean number three is not important.

I will start a build thread in a couple of weeks. I am waiting on the bar to get done. There really isn't that much interesting stuff going on now. That will be happening at Defined Autoworks in the near future.

Here is a couple of teasers...

That is a product called Lizardskin. Sound deadening going inside. Sound and heat killing Lizardskin going underneath and on the firewall.

The engine bay was also just painted.

Not that my original question is that important but I ask for satin but some how ended up with flat. It is powdercoated and looks kick ***! I am very satisfied.

It still isn't welded in. I will get that done after I figure out getting the interior back in. I got rid of the strangler belts and the Canadian spec interior stuff I got is not just a straight bolt in. A pillars have a different attachment point....no big deal.

Here are some shots of the bar.
