Projects, Prices, Pictures.

what was your project? (track, drag, drift, street, vip, other)

How much did it cost you? (total hours, days, years, cash spent)

post some pictures when you first bought the car and how it sits now.

post any other information that can helps those in need of a project such as what vendors you used, how you saved cash or how you lost cash.

This was my first project completed for the rx7. It's the rotary works vmount kit which was absolute **** n: (my review and build thread), and then I paid DentSport in MA to make it actually fit and be proper . Keep in mind that if I were to do this again, I would of just had DentSport purchase generic cores and fabricate it from scratch, and the cost would have been less.

RotaryWorks vmount kit: $1100
Recommended optional rotary works oil cooler that I didn't use: $200
Evo MR diverted valve (bov): $172
DentSport labor to modify the kit to fit, and make proper: $1600
Total: $3072
Items still needed to complete the kit: Spal fan, custom oil cooler lines

Day 1

After v-mount

I'm currently working on complementary parts for my powerfc/hybrid turbo and a rebuild will happen this winter. Girls t2 rebuild has been making my build go rather slow. Doing things the right way isn't cheap, but in the end it feels good.

$3402+ and counting, and that is over 13 months, including the cost of the car. Which was $1800. That is not including all the oil, paint, small things, missing receipts, etc. Which was $1800. Project is a DD/Auto-X car.

so far I have 2000 into my build for a nice street car.
Thats only on the engine. nothing suspension wise or tires/wheels.

Parts list:
Blown s4 t2-$140 (ended up ONLY using the irons so a waste of money.)
Reman s4 housings- $40 (GOT A DEAL ON THESE)
koyo radiator and e-fan- $200
Rtek 2.0- $400
S4 manual steering rack-$120
s4 n318 pressure sensor- $35
boost and water temp gauges- $80
Rebuilt s4 turbo with 200 miles- $150
Battery relocation items-$90
Atkins Soft seal kit-$175
Atkins 2 piece 2mm Apex seals- $250
Walbro 255-$60
v-Mount intercooler-$70

All of this since this last may 2011. I didnt pay anything for the car since i traded a datsun for it. I had $2500+ into the datsun though.

I am sure that I have left stuff out, and havent factored in the price of any extra stuff like paint and prep stuff for the engine bay, or tools i needed to buy (like the damn $32 socket for the flywheel nut). I also have quite a few parts to buy before the engine is even runable (afm, downpipe, exhaust, BOV, silicon hoses, alternator)

I keep a list of all costs on my computer but i try not to look at it. lol Making this list just made me kinda depressed. haha

If I didn't spend it all on my car(s), I would have squandered it

FC's x2.

For what I've spent on my FC's, I could have had a nice FD and a nice daily.
Oh well. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

Who cares, its just money, and cars are the only thing I enjoy spending money on. Everywhere else I'm a cheap *** lol.

Between 2 FCs, probably about $4-5k. The good one doesn't run yet, the other runs but is a rusty beater.
