One major trunk lid problem if you do this.

It won't stay up!! At least with the stock struts. And no aftermarket strut manufacturer make a kit for our Verts

As indicated earlier in this thread, I have a spoiler on two of my Verts (one the stock "sport" as you see in my signature) and solved the problem. I designed an adaptor that will allow mounting aftermarket struts you can get an any auto parts store. One adaptor/strut replacement is all needed to stay up. I replaced both of them, and now my the trunk lid will lift up by itself when you release it! No kidding.

It's a simple design, but cost me about $20 each for material and labor to have them made. I can get more made using mine as a reference at a local machine shop if anyone wants. Interested Wankleheads, PM me as I rarely go to this forum.

Just cover my cost of $20 each and shipping to you. Just wanting to share the cure, not start a business.

Thumbs up Very nice wing.

I like how you eliminated the stock 3rd brake lite and replaced it with one incorporated into the wing.

Glad the trunk strut adaptor worked out for you as well. I'm sure trying to get the trunk lid to stay up now would be a real PITA without it.

Are you sure he eliminated the 3rd brake light or is the new wing just covering it up?

I threw the old third brake light in the trash.

Quick question. Does the stock third brake light have a dimmer setting like the regular brake lights or does it just come on when you brake and turn off when you let off? I can't remember. lol

I'm trying to decide if I want to wire mine up as a 2 stage brake light or just an on/off light. I recently noticed that the center light bar on Cadillac's and other vehicles etc. are off/on style, so I guess that seems to probably be the way to go.

The third brake light is off unless you press the brake pedal. No dimming, just on/off.

Yeah as stated, its on/off

Thats the point of the 3rd brake light - if its on - that ****** is stopping

Juiceh's next challenge is to wire the third brake light so it is also a directonal turn signal light.

I'm thinking of putting this wing on my S5 TurboVert

Picked up a used one in good shape yesterday.

Comments? Made by local to me Wings West in City of Industry, CA.

Primary concern is opening the trunk accidentally while the antenna is up. But Mazdatrix advertises this as "this is the only wing that fits a convertible"

LOL, I guess all of the other wings in this thread don't fit. Silly Mazdatrix.

I kinda like the ones that hang off the back myself, although they tend to look better on coupes than verts.

So, if there were a stock Vert Wing, this would be it? I like that answer.

But I'm still concerned about the antenna. That question will be answered when I test fit it next week.
