My ~350rwkw FC3S
Hi guys,
Im new to this forum and new to rotories (I don't think I'll ever go back to piston).
My name is James aka Jamehij and I recently purchased a 1987 Mazda RX-7 GTR. For those of you who don't know what the GTR model is, it was the 'higher' spec FC with a larger fuel pump, larger fuel rail and a smaller 40L tank.
The car is fully modified here is a spec list:
Stage 2 bridgeporting.
Bigger Exhaust ports.
550hp inline Walbrough Fuel Pump plus 500hp intank.
5L Surge tank.
Garrett GT45 Turbo.
Intercooler + custom piping.
Gimler Drives.
20B Alternator to run power steering.
Aftermarket Radiator.
Big Radiator Fan (I think its for a V8).
HKS Injectors 2x 1000c and 2x 800c.
Eagle 12mm Leads.
50mm external wastegate + screamer pipe .
3" pipe straight back off turbo to 4" Promazz muffler.
Full Ajustable Cusco suspension height & camber.
HKS SSQ BOV.
NGK Plugs.
Microtech LTs-10 plus X4 ingintion box.
OS Giken Lightened Flywheel
OS Giken Twinplate 6 puk clutch.
K&N Air Filter.
Racepro Boost Tap.
Bosh GT500 Coils.
Upgraged Brake Pads (Still running standard calipers and rotors atm)
RX2 Oil cooler.
There is more to the engine I just can't think of it all right now...
Sorry for the list being a bit everywhere I kinda just threw it down as I remembered it.
In terms of its looks and other less engine/performance orientated parts...
Custom Mixed Blue Gloss paint.
19"*9.5" DTM Shine wheels, front and back (made right here in good old NZ).
Recarpeted Interior.
2x RPS Glassback bucket seats.
The front tyres are streched 235s (need to double check that, again this is all off the top of my head).
The rear tyres are 295 Contentials.
Aftermarket Steering wheel which I hate for being waaaaaay to small.
Push to start button.
Aftermarket Gearknob.
Short throw Shifter.
The front bumper is standard but has been cut out to allow more air thru.
Halfway through finishing the interior atm...
Doing a metal trim.
Missing door cards
And I wouldn't mind a black interior instead of the nana grey one.
The car made 350 odd kw on 11.5psi.
And here she is...
Let me know what you think.
Peace!

I didn't build her, I'm just the proud new owner. I would hate to think what the last owner spent on it... The wiring is intense, in fact no its a complete mess. One week when I have absolutely nothing to do I need to redo alot of it as the orginal loom is still hanging around in some places.
The wiring is mostly custom and the genius that did it decided that red was a pretty colour and did most of it in red. Making my life very very difficult. Ill take some pics of the ecu and associated wiring when I can and I'll chat to the last owner about build pics. (He is a cool guy sold it to top up funding for his 26B turbo FD build mwahahahaa).
The last owner put up a youtube vid of her on the dyno here is the vid note the heat generated just below the turbo... enjoy.

Yea something like that, it scary fast Im getting an hks evc boost controller in the near future so I can run 11pound as my daily tune and 15-17 as my "teach you a lesson" boost setting. Have had heaps of estimates on what she could do at higher boost some close to 400kw... To me thats a bit of a big number and not really on the cards but will keep you posted...

Nice find.

Aaaaaa the old 26B. See people take little old New Zealand for granted for most things. And for the most part its valid but with rotaries its not. In my opinion NZ has one of the best rotary scenes in the world. I dunno if you follow the Drifting in the States etc but on of the very few NZ drivers to compete over there, Mike Whiddett, pilots 26B PP FD, which sounds insane... build right here in good old NZ. We have had 2 others but the both blew up .
A company makes PP 4 rotor blocks and E shafts. I think the E shafts are around 12k NZD so that is sweet **** in USD. Check them out Pulse Performance Race Engineering, PPRE @ www.pulseperformancere.com
Hope that helps
