yo dk call me son, ill go help you

dkwasherexd 11-02-08 02:50 PM

hello good sir. Its coo man, you live pretty far from me, dont want you towaste ur gas!! Im callin some of my friends today that live near...

what hapned to ur motor !!!!?

Battle Cat 11-02-08 03:10 PM

oh sho then.

my rear housing got flooded with coolant?! weird huh.

and lost compression

Hypertek 11-02-08 03:39 PM

you try stackking the tranny on some wooden blocks inbetween the jack?

Turbo II Rotor 11-02-08 04:38 PM

People still use trans jacks? Be a man and muscle it up. Hands on the bell housing, knees on the tail shaft.

Battle Cat 11-02-08 05:00 PM

^rofl ive done that.. shit sucks hahah

Turbo II Rotor 11-02-08 05:49 PM

FC transmissions are light, try pulling a TH350 out of a Nova.

dkwasherexd 11-02-08 08:12 PM

the problem is my jack stands dont go very high, so theres no room for me to be under the tranny under the car, and its hard to line up the tranny with the clutch /splineshaft and force it in. Its hard to slide it back in...sigh... If I was at a shop with the cheater lift and tranny jack it would be cake...Its almost in... its on blocks right now linned up, just gotta somehow wiggle it in the tranny splineshaft into the clutch..

dkwasherexd 11-02-08 08:13 PM

im just a out of shape weak sauce...:( will do the 3rd attempt tmrw!

yo!

I can helpz u rebuild it!!! I have the street port template and air tools:) You might be able to reuse the apex seals[if they still have alot of life] and rotors and housings.Just need new gaskets, apex seal and sideseal springs,fd corner seal springs and waterjacket seals. Get the waterjacket seals from pineappleracing, they are $200 but last a long time and are reuseable!! Well port the exhaust ports too!!!it will be a beast.

dkwasherexd 11-04-08 10:49 PM

got the tranny in today myself. I guess after 1days rest my arm wasnt sore and itwas easy to fight it in. :) I bleed the clutch and now its nice and stiff. I checked the hydrolics while a friend presses the clutch and it is moving the fork. So it shouldbeable to go into gear now. The problem now is I have to find somebody with a silicone hose and pump to put the tranny fluid back in. I tried putting the fluid from where the shifter goes, and it didntwant to take it.. Thats weird, on 240s I always put gear oil through the shifter.. I guess Ill need to do it from under the car..
I started the car and looked at the engine itwas leaking fuel on the fuel lines.. They bursted, but they never bursted when the NA was in there.. weird, so shut the engine imediately & I replaced them with new ones [Kragen $1.29 per feet]. Now its not leaking and it was alot harder to start. Like my engine is flooding all the time. Weird it was easier to start when the fuel lines were leaking LOL.. this is soo strange.. my motor is weird.

MaczPayne 11-05-08 12:13 AM

You don't need a damn pump to fill the tranny. Get a funnel and a long tube (ie long vacuum hose), run it through the engine bay to the tranny fill hole, and add fluid till it's full.

dkwasherexd 11-05-08 01:38 AM

which tranny fill hole? the one on the side of the tranny near the middle torwards the shifter? Like the gigantor bolt one? or which part is the fill hole lol sorry never added tranny fluid b4. Only added fluid for friends s13 which was thru the shifter.

BTW thx guys really apreciate all the help. Before all this I was about to save $$ and pay a shop torebuild & do work again. But lurkin on these forums teaches alot! :)

Hypertek 11-05-08 01:46 AM

u graduate from vrt and come join my crew lol

That seems like a lot harder than just doing it from the side of the car. Any benefit to doing this way?

^^ noobness revoked on that one....saved by ur diff :D

dkwasherexd 11-05-08 01:58 PM

hm today i tried to start it as usual for break in. But it wouldnt start.Weird just yesterday and all the other days it would start up easy. I pulled the spark plugs and they were all caked in blackness,so I cleaned them. I cranked the motor w/o the plugs to unflood it if it is flooded..Put the plugs back in. Tried to start again, but it wouldnt.. It will do a occasional pwah pwah..weird.. Feels like i just started over again, like the first time when it was trying to start it. the battery died after trying to crank it so long. No leaks, theres fuel I can smell it..weird....it just started to happen when Ifixed the fuel leakage...
I think the only way now is to pop start again. sigh.. i gotta wait for my friends to get off school and have em tow me up the hill...

finishline 11-05-08 02:10 PM

whack.

There's two on the tranny, the lower one is the drain, the uppermost one is the fill. It should be on the side of the trans.

yea, when i put mine in the tranny, i filled it through the check hole.

i would have put it through the top, but i didn't have that start tool crap to open it up.

Battle Cat 11-05-08 06:52 PM

yo dk, let me know if you want me to come over son.

dkwasherexd 11-06-08 01:21 AM

so charlie came and helped me get it started. It turns out that my engine is low compression and the fuel pressure is high [since i fixed the leak]so its flooding. we had to remove the plugs and crank all the shit out, then clean the plugs and put em back in. It started up. Stil having trouble shifting into gear, will try bleeding the hydrolics tmrw. Its hard to shove it into gear when the motor is on, once its in gear with the clutch down everything works like normal, just hard to get into gear..the engine felt slow as hell when idrove it. Everyone told me i just have to keep breaking it in. It felt like 30hp...I guess ill keep letting it idle some more tanks...

dkwasherexd 11-06-08 09:18 PM

alrite today i started it up again, and it smoked like crazy. 2 hours later of idling at 15k , the smoke vanished.. I was suprised, and happy. I guess all that crap flushed out. I shut the engine off, went to buy more gas, filled her up and started again. It started as usual and I decide to drive it up and down my street. It felt like there was no power, like 30hp... and my engine bay started smoking like crazy.Smoke came from under neath the car and behind me, but not through the exhaust. I hurried and parked the car inside and shut it off. Popped the hood and there was oil all over my turbo. The engine was over heating, and smoke was coming from the turbo. There was oil leaking from the turbo....and ichecked the propeller and there was shaft play. I think my turbo was blown the whole time. What do you guys think??

dkwasherexd 11-06-08 09:24 PM

a side note.

I hooked up my boost gauge and its reading vacuum. However, when i gas it the boost never passes 0. and my BOV never goes off at the sofftest setting...This is under load and standstill neutral..

Can you guys confirm that my turbo is blown by those symptoms?

rogrx7 11-06-08 10:48 PM

why are u boosting....is the engine broken yet

Also...looks like u bad turbo oil seal

dkwasherexd 11-06-08 10:53 PM

never went pass 4k rpm. It never even boosted, it spools but no boost just shit load of smoke from the turbo. Im still looking for as5 turbo

Typically, you won't see boost by just revving. You might see a little if you floor it, but I doubt you'd want to do that on a fresh rebuild.

The reason why most EMSs come with anti-lag is to build boost while in neutral.

dkwasherexd 11-12-08 09:38 PM

okay I swapped the turbo out , and it helped alot. But other problems started. The engine would flood sometimes. When it finally starts during flood, theres a shiz load of white smoke LIKE D1 smoke. And then my coolant level went really low. The engine started overheating. Today I did a coolant flush, and new coolant went in. I tried starting, and walla flooded again. Finally starts with shiz load of D1 smoke again. After driving for 1 min. the smoke goes away.
another problem is that its still slow as fluck. Although it is showing slight improvement. Before I couldnt go up my hill , now I can in 1st.... I drove it around for a good hour today around the block, just staying uder 4k.Its really poor in low rpm torq, untill u get past 3k.So I always had to shift late. Is this normal for break in? Its been 4 weeks already of breakin, but still showing low compression. Probly went through at least 2 full takes of gas mostly idling, and I just started driving it this week. It idles at 1100 rpm now. Before it would be at 1900, then week later 1500, then 1400, now 1100..I guess that means its getting alil bit better?

dkwasherexd 11-12-08 09:43 PM

how much more breakin will it take? Is all this normal? I mean its realy hard to drive because of the lag of torq especialy making u turns with a welded diff. Barely has enough power to make it up my driveway.

Im scared. What if the rebuild was bad?

finishline 11-12-08 10:06 PM

just keep driving til' it blows.

i'm sure compression will eventually settle in.

trust me, driving slow sucks.

but it'll pay off in the end. =P

l3eltinck 11-12-08 11:38 PM

some freeway driving possibly? took my engine ~600 miles or so to actually feel like it started growin some nuts... drove it in increments of 100 miles or so at a time.

dkwasherexd 11-13-08 01:41 AM

ill keep putting mooar miles.. The hard part is that I live in a area with hills. If only it was mostly flat land...

pengarufoo 11-13-08 01:56 AM

where in Cali are you?

and if your car feels weak as hell maybe your timing is not set right? You don't by chance have the initial set coupler jumpered? You know the one you jumper to set the idle etc?

The low compression should mostly make it difficult to start, this doesn't make it feel like 30HP if there's enough compression to start the damn thing. There's something else wrong, stop running it until you address what's wrong.

edit: nevermind on the location, I see from earlier in the thread you're in socal.... if you were in norcal I was gonna offer a hand with getting that thing running right.

rotaryracer1 11-13-08 10:50 AM

dude i recently had Atkins build my t2 block and when i started it and drove for the first time around the block it felt awesome, not slow or heavy, it did not feel like it does now but it forsure did not feel like what your describing.

coxxoc 11-13-08 11:44 AM

Of the five brand new rebuilds I've driven, they have always felt peppy. I'd tear yours down and find out what is wrong. Unless you reused seals or have poor side seal clearance, you shouldn't have any issues with low compression. Housings can even be pretty trashy and still have good compression.

new sig:)

dkwasherexd 11-14-08 01:24 AM

alrite today it got abit better. It started up right away, let it idle for 3 hours and shut off cool down. Started it again and drove it up and down the street, it feels like 40 hp now.. a bit easier to drive. So I kept driving it and drove to the gas station filled up[leaving the car on] drove home, then it felt like 60hp. I could actualy drive with the flow of traffic now lol. Popped the hood, and its not overheating. so I guess its getting abit better.. Il continue breakin tmrw....Il just keep babying it......

I did reuse side seals, and the clearance was inspected and I picked out all the best side seals I had, made sure they moved freely inthe grooves, I also reused the springs, cleaned them and they looked fine. Acid angel said it looked fine too, and we used all the best seals I had laying around.. The housings and rotors were good. Im guessing I just need to be more patient and break in more....I guess my engine seems to be taking longer than normal... I did kinda wish I had brand new everything to build... I would imagine it wouldve been broken in by now..But since Im on abudget build :(

finishline 11-14-08 01:36 AM

might as well keep it up bro. sounds like you're getting somewhere. take advantage of gas prices.

Hypertek 11-14-08 02:23 AM

maybe if you can do a smooth freeway run??

still got 120 hp to go! lmao

dkwasherexd 11-14-08 12:41 PM

seriously gas is so cheap. I got to the gas station, and put 20 bucks, and it have me more than 3/4 of a tank! :) so happy. 8 gallons of gas for 20 bucks.... goshhh sooooo cheapppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp :) :) start filling up ur tanks now b4 gas goes back up!~!!!!!

Battle Cat 11-14-08 01:33 PM

hahah niiice, ey dk, lets get your car running right,

oh ey i started a new thread son!

dkwasherexd 11-14-08 02:45 PM

my engine seized today.

it wouldnt want to start then it finaly started with shit load of white smoke then rpm just fell hard, and it wont crank, its jammed. fluckk....... I wish i had $$ and just paid a shop to do everything

Hypertek 11-14-08 03:20 PM

dkwasherexd 11-16-08 11:09 PM

man today i justwasnt in the mood to do work . Tomarrow Ill try to get the engine out and take it apart and see what a happend..If the damage is the cost of new apexseals or housing and rotor , and anotehr rebuild kit, im just going to buy a used running shortblock.. gahhhhh rotaryyyyy

Hypertek 11-16-08 11:24 PM

apply for a credit card man... will help you out some, just spend what you need to get it running then work to pay it off.. I know your young but you will eventually need to work on building credit.
