My black gelcoat was a bit lumpy, so I ended up using some gray duratec instead. I did a quick test fit and Im pretty happy with it for a S4 bumper.
The passenger side could use a little tweak but I think that is something with my car because the lip was previously slitted across the top so that it could be moved in and out, I have glassed it for the time being so that its stable when im making the mold from it. You can see the slit in previous pictures.
You can now see how it extends past the fender, this will allow me to trim it where I want it, before it was short of the fender.

Tomoroww starts the mold making process, with any luck maybe I can make one by the end of the week. Once the mold is made then its easy going from there.

Now I wonder how it will look if you cut off the bottom of the bumper and plastic grill. I'm sure the S5 looks better like that, but I'm curious how that would look.

its hard to make out in the picture but the area where the fender and the bumper meet on the passenger side sticks out past the lip a little bit, but again I think that has something to do with my particular car.

That area is pretty easy to manipulate using just your hands, got to remember the lip will be have a little flex ability to it but not enough to "stretch" it.

It definitly fits BETTER on a S5 bumper, but its more then acceptable for a S4, and again that could just be how it looks on my car, I need another local S4 to act as a tester.

Any tips on moldmaking? I have been secretly working on a modified T2 wing, but think it would be wise to make a mold.

prep is the key, if you think you will make more parts you need a good plug. Polish it up really good to remove all the scratches, apply 6-8 coats of mold release wax, and build a good sturdy mold so that your parts do not come out distorted.

Im waiting to try the lip on another car before I go ahead with the mold. I had it on my coupe with both the s4 and s5 bumper but I wanted to try it on my vert also.

Not sure if it's just the camera angle, but it looks like the right side comes up farther out than the left side...bad explanation I know. It's probably just the pic angle though

the tent has a pretty good slope off from the middle of the blacktop, check the pictures when it was on the car and black for a accurate view.

so its basically an S5 lip that you are refinishing, and it happens to work with an S4 correct?

looks like you extended out the ends of the lip for the end user to modify to their personal taste.

is the S5 lip shorter than the S4 on the end's?

problem I ran into was when I tried to use the s5 bolt holes on the lip for my s4, it put the lip in all kinds of bad places.

Then when I just clamped it where it could go the ends did not line up, so I made the ends longer

do you think it would be worth it to pickup an S5 odura style lip in fiberglass and make it fit my S4?

or would it be a better idea to pickup a shine street odura style lip to fit to my S4?

does the S5 lip fit pretty well without wrestling it into place, as long as i drill new holes, and don't use the S5 hole's?

im thinking that, if it will fit good, and only need new holes drilled, and the ends extended, i will go with the fiberglass CS odura lip.

but if i have to wrestle the lip into the correct location, the flexible shine street lip may be the way to go.

whats your opinion? i hate the CS S4 lip more and more every time i see it, but need a lip.

I was just looking at this thing today, I have had too much paint work in the shop to be waxing a plug so its been sidetracked for now.

What I can do is when I take the Odura lip off my S5 bumper I can test fit it to my coupe that has the S4 bumper.
Or you can be a gunea pig and try one of these when I get around to making more.
I just dont know if Im going to get to remove the lip tomoroww or the next day because I have alot to do at work and Im down one man this week and next week.

I already extended the end of the lip to accomodate a S4 car, it would need some minor trimming

I got more time to respond now, I might get the lip fitted by 7/20, but I wont have the mold made yet thats for sure.

Thanks for the paint compliments, I did it myself right there in that shop, from the fenders back the paint is 10 years old, with the exception of the skirts and rear bumper.

I got some time to play with this again, got the plug polished and started the waxing/mold release.

Hopefully I get to make the mold this week.

first coat of tooling gelcoat is on, should have the mold finished this week, then I will probably put a good 10 coats of wax on the mold before trying to pull a lip off it next week.
