My 6 port turbo rebuild

Rotors still spinning

They actually aren't as large as they appear to be. The Cosmo and FD intake ports enter the engine at a downward angle as opposed to straight in. Cut a pipe or tube at an angle and then look at how much the area appears to increase when viewed from straight on. They are larger but not as much as they look like they are.

That is quite odd. I guess the previous owner had to rebuild the engine and didn't want to do any porting work, hence the NA irons. With TII rotors I bet that thing is an absolute dog to drive around town.
Far more port area then any ported 4 port engine save for bridge, J-bridge, semi-PP or side fed PP. Basically the largest port you can get in the "street" port range.
However because of the large port area, bottom end lacks a bit when using a big turbo.
Faster spool, more power, the ability to run larger hotsides.
Of course you have a rough idle, the car will get 8-10 MPG in the city if you are lucky, and the tuning is much more difficult.
I think a 62-1 will be too large to avoid lag with the ports as is. A bridgeport will fix this if you have a decent T4 hotside (bigger then 1.0).

i think in that case, i might just do a full bridgeport on the engine, port the crap out of the intake and matching ports, a custom intake such as your car has, and i guess i'll have to do that t4 hotside.
and i'm poor, but horsepower is much more attractive to me than bad mileage is unatractive, so i can live.
This car is my daily driver, so i think i might be a little nuts to be doing this, but hey, why not?
does anybody here have any knowledge about this thing i've seen before on this forum; its where you remove the gap between the aux ports and the 5th+6th ports? is there any downside to this conversion?>> besides MPG, i already know thats gunna be bad..

Don't remove the gap between the ports. That will make the port tooooo big and you will end up losing port velocity. Here is a pic of a torn down engine with that done, I call it the "Abomination Port". Compare it to the stock 6 ports and the streetport, there is just too much port for the intake to flow well. Leave the existing port alone, and add the bridge to the top portion of the endplates. It will be plentiful and strong and give the tradional brap (see my 4 port bridge pic, similar to what BDC does).

Full bridge = all intake ports bridged
Half bridge = intake ports on end iron bridged
If you are going to do a half bridge engine, you may as well go full bridge.

That makes very little sense, but I see what you are trying to say. Terminology needs to be cleared up though.
Full bridge = all intake ports bridged
Half bridge = intake ports on end iron bridged
If you are going to do a half bridge engine, you may as well go full bridge.

haha, i guess you got what i was saying
what i mean to say is FULL bridge
no, i have never built a motor before. I've done lots of car work though, just not on rotary engines.
however, i have lots of friends with rx-7s pushing 600+rwhp, and i only need to look at one of those engines once to see what i have to do.

so its been a little bit since i updated this thread
i've come to my final conclusions on my engines rebuild
if anybody has any high compression rotors they'd like to trade for some TII rotors, let me know..
my funds are insufficient to get a standalone EM system (for now) so bridgeporting is out
so i decided to go with a pretty aggressive streetport (compare them to the pics of when the engine was torn apart)
heres what i have so far;
please do not remind me, i am not COMPLETELY done with them, i have yet to make the ports a mirror finish
does anybody have any advice, now that my primarys are ported up, how much should i port my secondarys; keep in mind that this is a 6 port

The plates you have do not look ported "AT ALL". The runners have been modified (HACKED UP) to accommodate the turbo manifold. The actual ports look like they have maintained the original opening and closing characteristics. The reason whoever did this, did not port the 5&6 ports into the primary ports is because of potential intrusion into the water jacket.
As far as port area 6 port motors already lean toward the larger side, I recommend new plates “Clean up” the runners and a mild “Street Port” primarily concentrating on enlarging the primary ports which are small on the 6 port motors. Bridges porting is not necessary for power since you are turbo charging. A good street will keep the car more daily drivable.

You're going to need a standalone if you intend to run that engine with a larger turbocharger. Otherwise it will blow up again.
I suggest leaving the end irons alone. There is already plenty of port area.

but i already plan leaving the end irons' port area the same; i'm going to polish the living **** out of it though, cus it was pretty rough when i bought it.

Alright
so today i progressed a bit on the engine, its soon to be together now
i decided, due to the in-ablility to find 9.7-1 rotors, i'll just keep with my TII rotors
i have to pick up a set of oil control rings
and thats it!
all thats left otherwise is paint
heres where i am:
cleaned up rotor housings for painting;
same for upper intake, i have to do the lower tomorrow or something;
front cover..;
i heard that porting the TB was good for some ponies, so i did that too;
i took off the top piece to the stock intercooler, but this shouldn't be there for very long at all, so its just to compliment the rest of the engine...
got the fuel injection all ready for paint; defiantly going to get some better hose..
and heres my wonderful work area:
i plan on painting all the parts with that "metalcast" stuff that i've seen used before on the forum. going for a nice, black and silver metal flake, with some blue accents here and there
so whadaya think?

I am almost ready to rebuild!
For the last 24 hours or so, i have been painting, painting, painting..
in these pics, the engine is not actually together, i just mocked it up for the pics:
very soon it should be running, and i'll take pics and videos
