How to not smell like exhaust?
I'm sure there is a thread out there somewhere that covers what people should do to not smell like exhaust every time you step out of your RX7.
So what do you guys do to not smell like exhaust? The first few months of owning the car I didn't really mind the smell that much, now is just irritating me. Although to be fair, the reason I smell like exhaust can be attributed to the my stupid free flowing exhaust which makes me wonder if I should just replace it for something else.
As I don't know any other FC owners around the area, what do you guys do to stop the stench of rotary?

try putting turn downs on your exhaust tips. Also make sure that you dont have any exhaust leaks under the car. Lastly, make sure that the rubber seal is good on the rear hatch,this is VERY important..

The rubber seal on my rear hatch seems to be very brittle to be quite honest, this might be a pretty good reason why it smells inside the cabin. By any chance do you know where I can find OEM rubber sealing? Or can I just any rubber sealing I can get my hands on? It's good to also note that, I start up the car inside a semi open garage, so the exhaust is always pointing towards a wall of some sort, although I don't believe this would be a huge culprit into the cabin smelling like poop.

if you don't like smelling like an RX-7, you may want to sell the car. no way to rid yourself of the smell really. install new tail light seals, new hatch, sunroof, and window seals, and ensure all of the grommets on the firewall are good and you may cut down on the smell some.

I've dealt with this on my Vert(s). Lessons learned:
1. Exhaust leaks. Over time the flanges can bow allowing exhaust to seep past the gaskets. Take it to a good exhaust place (like Ace in Santa Ana) and have them locate and fix those leaks by truing up the flange surfaces and new gaskets.
2. Bolt a cat back on it for your DD'n. Doesn't have to be good enought to pass smog, so an old stock cat would do the trick. You can always swap out the cat for a straight pipe or presilencer at the track The Cat by itself cleans up a lot of the exhaust smell. This did the most for cleaning up the exhaust smell.
3. You can get get a new seal for your rear hatch at a good price from Mazdatrix or Puente Hills Mazda (Marco). Just air turbulence can indeed cause exhaust fumes to funnel in from the rear.

As long as the smell is cut down considerably,that's all that matters.
It's funny i have the same high flow cat, can't say it helps much.
I read about addictive for exhausts, it is interesting, but not sure is something I would do for a DD

have you ever noticed if you put a Del Taco hamburger that sat out in the parking lot overnight on your rear spoiler and then drive off it will stay there up to 80mph? you actually need a big bump at speed to remove it.
