How much should one pay for a clean turbo 2 ?
I'm looking to find a clean stock turbo 2 with potential to last me a few years before needing a rebuild and get it modded to 250hp to flywheel or so ( 200-220 wheel hp)
I want to get it near stock so i know its not been all messed with and have tons of problems.
I figure around 2-3k would be a good price for a turbo two thats stock and in decent condition. How much have ya'll got your turbo rx7s for ?
I really don't care if its an 87-88 turbo or 89-91 , what i do care about is that the car isn't a bunch of problems.

a good clean TII that is stockish or a TII swap should go for atleast 3k.
I got my swapped GTUs for 2k, but it wasnt running and had to put more money into it to make it run.

an overpriced car isn't a good comparison.
he's pretty much on the money, with the economy in the crapper someone would be lucky to even get $3k for a clean good running T2. that is their blue book value after all, not $10.5k.................. unless of course you're the one selling it and think that someone who just won the lottery will be eyeing your car over a real car that isn't 20 years old and dated looking like the stock FC is.
the big BUT is that there isn't many unmolested turbo 7's left, but that doesn't mean that they are worth 3 times what a molested one would go for. these are ALL project cars now, even a low mile stock 7 that appears to be in showroom condition(unless it has service records of all the hoses, injectors, electrical and engine having been replaced parts still go bad with age).
i paid $1k for mine 8 years ago with a blown motor off ebay, drove 500 miles to pick it up and drove home and started the restoration, now have over $20k invested into it and would be lucky to get $7k for it. keep in mind i paid $1k for it 8 years ago! they haven't been appreciating in value, more like the opposite.
sometimes you do find people who have assloads of money though and who would spend it on a clean car. i did have someone drop me $7.5k on my 9" lifted chevy s-10 4X4 about 5 years ago(he got an insurance settlement and really liked my truck even though it was dirty from sitting for 2 years and had some mis-match front tires on it), i would have been lucky to get $4.5k if i listed it for sale on craigslist.

I picked up my 87 t2 for 2800 with 80,000 original miles drove it home and the ******* **** overheated in mid winter. Rebuilt after a few months cuz it ran like crap and now I'm debating on selling. Completly stock but everything works - sunroof, buttons ,heater, u name it it works . Haven't tried the ac dough. I'd say for a decent t2 u can pick one up for abot 3500- 4000with low miles

3-5k seems to be the range.
You should assume ANY original motor cars will need a new one ASAP or with in the next year.
These cars are over 20years old. Low mileage is a bad thing on them.
Original TII motors will go until about 100-120k

10.5k isn't out of this world... I bet you could even talk him down a little.
I don't know how many threads I see that are like, "OMG I would never pay that" or "this guys is @#$$ crazy."
People WILL pay that, maybe not you, but someone who had one when they were a kid or something might. 62,390 miles, near factory condition, garaged it's entire life. How many people do you know have one like that?
OP: good luck.
I got 87 TII that 'had some issues' for $1900 in 2001 and it blew coolant seals 3 months after I bought it.

$10.5k sure is out of this world for a car that is going to need a $3k rebuild in the near future. you'll have $15k invested into the car before you know it for a car with a blue book value of maybe $4.5k with low miles.
hmmm, original FC or an original FD with a rebuilt engine for the same amount? i'll go with the nicer looking higher resale value FD anyday..
PS: parking it in front of a nice house does not increase its resale value.
