I've heard a lot of negative things about the HKS "mushroomfilter", it's said that they let in to much dirt, and some people found sand resedues in they'r intake, I don't know if it transfers to the drop in filter, but i would go for the K&N just to be on the safe side.

K&N Filters aren't much better when a majority of users over oil the filters. Your better off just using a stock filter. K&N Filters are also one of the few emissions approved filter. So oil them with care.

If you live in an area that there is a lot of dust, the HKS or greddy mushroom foam filters do not work very well in keeping the dust out because you cannot oil them and do not seal very well on the back. Otherwise they are great filters. The only downside is that you need the replace the foam. When i use to have an HKS cone filter i use to wash it every few months even though its not recommend... :-)

I prefer the AEM dryflow filters. They do not require oiling, are washable, and are very good at trapping fine dust particles.

ive ran both and there are pros and cons to both.....with the hks or foam filter you will get better performance but you also allow more debris into the intake and with the k&n or spectra you loose jus a little performance over an hks but you get better filtration and you do have to make sure you oil it properly and not over do it

I <3 HKS...made my turbo sound way louder so I know it's flowing more than the K&N, but then again personally I don't care what gets sucked into my intake as long as it isn't a rock or something..

there was a dead mouse in my airbox when i bought it.....found it after it was driven home..... hks power filters are good if you want to have the smallest clearance area possible but, if you keep your stock induction tube and have the space might as well go with a k&n. i built a intake pipe for my na so had to go to a hks power i had just shelfed from a abandoned project, but their filters get expensive
