Does anyone make complete carbon fiber dashboards?
Looking to see if any company out there makes complete carbon dashboard replacements for the 2nd gen RX-7. I have see carbon trim but never a complete replacement. Thanks in advance for your help.

There was a company that said they were working on pulling a mold from a stock dash to reproduce one in fiberglass, I assume CF could be done as well. I don't think they ever got around to it though. Let me see if I can dig up the thread from another forum.
EDIT: there were talks of it in here, I don't think it ever went anywhere though: http://rotarycarclub.com/rotary_foru...highlight=dash

Dude, you guys forgot about the SPEEDMACHINE FC - when it was still around, I recall it having a complete CF Dash - a custom mold I might add, looked nothing like the FC dash.

Yeah ....who exactly do you want me to call? why do you think I am posting here? since I have not been able to find any company online I figure I would ask my fellow RX-7 community. Anyways, it seems like you can't start a post nowadays without a couple of people like you to waste my time reading a response that has no real information nor any helpfull advice. I dont understand .....does it **** people off that muh that I would spend money on a carbon dashboard? or does it **** you off more that you would never spend that kind money on something like that?

You could easily find someone to make you a one-off carbon dash, it doesn't need to be from any specific vendor (unless you really value being able to say 'I have parts from _______ on my car'). It'll be expensive that way though, but if you're willing to pay, it can be done.

I will think for you since you seem to be struggling...who works with carbon fiber? People who work for companies that need composites. What types of things need composite materials? Things where weight is a primary concern. What types of things? Airplanes, missiles, things that fly...I'm done. Google the rest or make some phone calls. See spot. See spot run. Run spot run. You don't know what you're asking about. The people who are knowledgeable about composites and have access to the facilities and materials won't waste their time on you because you can't afford their work. The people you can afford will do trash work. Anyone can mix resin and lay glass but it takes some skill, a lot of time, money, and some big ovens to do this right. You obviously don't know anyone in the business so either educate yourself or start sucking some.
Why CF? Obviously you care more about looks than weight.

that carbon dash on the yahoo page looked eh off the car on the shop floor, in the car it looks terrible.
Maybe if it was all put together, but the glove box area looks terrible, it looks plastic in those pictures, a case of making a part off the stock dash and not taking any time to change it so its more rounded and appealing.
If you are going to make a CF dash I think you have to basically start with your own design, the gauge area you can pull off stock, but then you have to change things up a bit in the center console/glove box area to pull it off- that is my opinion anyhow.
Otherwise it looks too artificial looking, it does not flow at all.
