man there are alot of nice pictures on that site
How ******* awesome is this?
And this is the car they had to beat. As Mike outlined in his previous post about the Racing Beat Bonneville campaigns, in 1986 this white FC set the long-standing E/BGT record of 238.4 MPH. That's seriously fast, but surely 23 years of technological progress would make a new record an attainable goal.

im going to post the pictures here, hopefully it works. Just so the lazy asses can see that car.
$200,000 USD to build, self funded hence the lack of having to put any logos on the car

I spy a p-port and a big turbo. That ought to be able to make a run at the record, or at least be a ton of fun until it flips . It looks like he's already spun out at 213 mph!

did not make the record, but I think he is knocking on its door.
will have to wait until next year.
After this spin, the SCTA officials put a red sticker on the car and asked that countermeasures be taken to remedy the car's stability problems before it would be allowed on course again... or come back next year. Toru opted for the second option. He was satisfied with the car's speed... it recorded an official figure of 211 mph at the 4 mile marker and there was no more that could be done on site to fix the stability problem.
So that was it for the Dandy RX7 at Bonneville Speedweek 2009.

Speedhunters is a place I frequent, great site! I just don't get where the 200 thousand went? Sure there's a motec and a lot of engine mods, but zero aero mods? You'd think people would be carefull after light cars like the first Racing Beat FD flipped over.

Labor costs, top-tier parts, custom design and fabrication, custom parts (like the titanium exhaust) , plus who knows what else?
I think the class he was competing in must not allow body mods.

Very sweet. I noticed that it is a 10th AE too. You can barely make out the "UC" paint code on the Vin. You can also notice white on the doors inside and engine bay. That was pretty impressive. I don't know about the $200,000 though. Where did all that go? Maybe $80,000 tops.

the owner is a investment banker, original owner of the car too.
He wrote the checks for the car to get done, but if you guys think you can build a car of that detail and quality for $80k, I will take 2 of them please.
