Baseball Bat Fender Flaring?
#77
Bringing back this thread.
1. I rolled my front and rear fenders with a hammer. Yes, a hammer. I beat the living **** out of the lips until they were flat using my hand to absorb most of the impact that would otherwise screw up the fenders/quarters more than they already were prior to rolling.
2. Now for pulling, what would be the best method?
Method one: Set my coilovers to full ride height. Find something that fits between the tire and fender. Lower coilovers until it's tight but not too tight. Roll car foward and backwards until no resistance is felt. Lower car some more on rolling object. Repeat until desired pull is achieved.
Method two: Leave my coilovers where i want them to be set at. Using a jack and a bat, lower the car until resistance is felt on the bat. Again, not too much. Roll the BAT itself along the length of the fender/tire over and over again until no resistance is felt and then lower the car a little bit more, repeat.
Again, why aren't things more in depth? People say "use the search". It helps if the searchable threads were worth a ****.
IMO, it's far easier to take a hammer to the lip than roll it out. Takes about 25 minutes for the rears b/c that lip is thick and stubborn. Takes about 10 minutes each for the fronts. Results are the same as using something to roll it.
Maybe i'm just good like that?

^ hehehe A hammer? Raising your coilovers and lowering them on top of something?
Take a look at fender rolling on youtube. Either the bat version or the actual fender rolling tool that bolts up to your hub.
I have rolled a handful of cars with a bat, bar, etc. Depending on wheel sizes, tire heights, etc you have to find something that will work. I also suggest using a heat gun on the paint.
I have never accomplished rolling fenders with out cracking the paint inside and a bit on the lip but I do try not to hehehe.
Good luck! Oh if you click my screenname you should be able to see a pic of my current car with rold fronts and rears.

What i meant by that was using the coilovers to ADJUST THE GAP BETWEEN THE TIRE AND FENDER for optimum rolling. That's by wedging something between the tire and fender and DRIVING the car slow, back and forth to get the fenders pulled.
Method two invlovded the car being stationary.
AGAIN, nobody ever goes into details about their methods of doing the bat trick which is why I brought this back. ALOT of you guys have pulled fenders. A method with a good how to (a bunch of people contributing instead of bitching about driftworks) would have been a better way to handle this thread instead of "i used a bat/driftworks sucks/my car looks better than your car".
The heat gun was already talked about in this thread. Too late for that on my car anyway since i didn't care about cracking the paint. LOL!
Also, in the thread title it states "BASEBALL BAT FENDER FLARING". Leave the eastwood roller out of this thread. Keep it on topic.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall sometimes. Just so i can see the look on some of your faces when a bird ***** on your car or a shopping cart lightly brushes it. Lol. I wish i cared about **** like that happening to my car but i dont.

I'll get to taking some new pics this week. I just got done taking the rear hubs off today so i can remove the dtss and put my mmr kit on, also gotta pull the diff, shim it, install my rear camber arm, wait on my ss brake lines and secret element tie rods i've yet to order........ It's a hectic mess right now. There's some pics from last week in the "post pictures of your drift car" thread and in my build thread. Some links to pictures anyway.....
Be patient. I WILL post pics in here of the gorilla hammer fender rolling some time next week.

After installing my lowering spring and shocks, I drove it carefully for a week. then i had to drive out of town. On that drive i heard an awful sound on big bumps and hard turns.
When i got to my destination, I "rolled" the fenders with slip joint pliers wrapped in electric tape.
Cracked the **** out of the paint on the edge. but I'm painting when it gets warm.
On top of that, I have to leave a roasting pan in the passenger seat in case it rains when i'm asleep.
So I'm ghetto. I am who I am.

well i guess there you go, everyone and thier own taste's
i never called anyones car ugly, or POS
maybe i have pushed a little hard, but i think alot of theese cars would look fuckign awesome, with just some bigger wheels and a closer fitting fender. I offerd sugestions, that many have taken offence to, wich was not my intentions.
Personally i like a low car, with a nice fitting wheel, cause it not something that everyone can just throw together, so it does get looks, and such, just cause not everyone is used to extreemly close tolerances between, wheel/tire, and fender.
and im not new to the drift scene.
ps, try and make it to the bay area meet, hopefuly somehow you can bring your fc

SOoo true...Everyone.
Kid is in Cali...so Im sure he got sucked into the drifto slideways scene before he could even reach the pedals.
So you went down the Takumi Project and got some wheels you afford..so what? Now you have a set up that out does everyone elses?
Everyone knows their car reflects them..so if I drove a rusted shitbox. I'd probably keep my mouth shut.
You haven't even been on the forum but a minute, so you have noooo room to talk.
Here is a picture for you...nicely fitting 26x11.5 SLICKS
