Amphibious FC has it been done?
So was saw the truck FC, and the chop top FC, and the targa FC.... but has anyone made one swim yet?
I've been thinking about this for a while now, and one day it will come together. I am thinking a vert would be better to start with, if I used a coupe I would cut the roof off for sure.
I could go into detail if ya'll are interested, do ya'll have any good ideas?

sorry, but the fc has enough problems of it's own, i dont think driving it into the water would help any. dont get me wrong, i'm all for creative things, but there so few left, all i have to ask is
why, man?
why!!
why, man?
why!!

and I live on a lake that likes to flood several times a year, lol.
but seriously, instead of asking why, ask why not!
And I get this feeling that these cars are not very rare at all, I've owned 4 in the last 5 years on almost no budget... they are for sale, in junkyards, and marked under trees here like you can't imagine. I don't see anyone rushing to save those examples.
And I like it when my car has problems, it gives me an opportunity to upgrade

Amphibious FC... it rained semi hard today here in Chicago and my car took a small dip into water that was at least 3-4 inches and my car shot smoke, ran rough, and went out of commission for 15 minutes. Water + rotaries = something bad waiting to happen. If someone does make an amphibious FC, better hope their window is open or they have a vert.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea, I've thought of this before, too. I don't have the resources, however, to actually bother thinking it through to a workable concept. I also wouldn't do it to my only '7 (a TII that I'm building for glorious, beautiful speed), I'd do it to a spare NA as that would probably be easier and cheaper than with a turbo model.

It's no different than for a gas piston engine. If you get water on your air filter, water farther in the intake, or on ignition components (like coils and plugs), it can choke/sputter/die. It can help to have all the underbelly trays installed and have a shielded filter (like the stock one). Ignition is the main reason gas engines don't like dirty water (as pure water is actually an insulator...) and a key reason diesels can be semi-amphibious, you can snorkel the intake and everything else is already taken care of.
