the whole problem with the 1992 FC thing is that they started building the FD in 1991, december 28th to be exact, it is hard to see why they would be building the FC after the FD started production, but then there IS a 1992 FC parts catalog, so maybe, or maybe its just verts.

ah see, the parts fische tells the whole story.
the coupe was built until july of 1991, the convertible was built until sepember of 1992
interestingly they list the tan interior, and a RED interior, being built but not optional for the US market.
we had 4 colors, black(pz), blaze red (SQ) crystal white (UC) and brave blue mica (5N), with either blue or black interior in the US.

I have a 92 FC sitting in my garage. It was sold as a 92' window sticker 91 build date in North America. Essentially, it was just an overstock sale as new in 92'. Mazda only produced 500 verts in 92. The problem with verifying a lot of this info is that in the early 90's MNO didn't keep import records by model, so all you have is X number of vehicles imported from Mazda and what was on the window sticker.
I JUST got the car back from my dad's shop this past weekend, and I haven't looked at the door sticker in... 8 years or more. I'll take a look tonight, but I know for a fact that it was originally sold as a 92. Maybe the dealer was a little dishonest... Who knows.

makes sense because I had read the vert was built on its own assembly line separate from the coupe

1992 FC3C
Production Dates: 08/1992 through 12/1992
VIN: 950001- 999999
In the spring of 1992, the coupe RX-7 replacement, the third generation RX-7 (FD3S) was released, however Mazda continued production of the FC3C Convertible until 12/92 as a 92 model year. The 92 Convertible was identical to the 91 versions except that a tan interior seating and door surface color option was added to the line up.
