I have an 88 convertible and would like mount up my momo corse seats that I had in my mustang. For the mustang I was able to adapt the stock brackets but that doesn't seem very easy. I love these seats and I am dying to get them in the car!

Does anyone has any experience with this that would lend some advice? I know there are a few companies out there making sliders but they all seem to be seat manufacturer specific. I am completely open to any ideas I am fairly mechanically able and should be able to do just about anything. Is making an adapter plate for the stock sliders the best thing? That doesn't seem possible with the passenger side because of the way it is shaped but I do believe I could get the drivers seat mounted that way.

Any help, comments, suggestions, etc. would be much appreciated.

I'm in a similar situation (using Honda CRX seats) and sympathize with your dilemma.

I haven't even tried to deal with the weird offset/angle of the passenger side mount yet and have struggled with the (seemingly) simpler driver's side.

I could adapt the stock sliders to my seats but then they sit too high.
As much as I'd like to retain the adjustability- even though I'm the only driver of the car- I temporarily made some solid mounts.
Even this wasn't without issues though...since the seat didn't slide forward, there was no way to access the two rear retaining bolts. Ultimately, I put studs in the rear mounts and slid the brackets over them and used bolts in the front.
This isn't perfect, the rear bracket holes had to be slightly larger than the studs so there is a bit of wiggle to the final install.
I don't think they'd come loose (the brackets are 1/4" steel) but even so...

I think that the ultimate fix will involve disassembly of the seat bottom and welding custom mounts to the frame...which I'm not looking forward to at all.

It's kinda surprising how involved such a seemingly simple swap can be, isn't it?

Thanks for the post! I really hope to get something figured out for the drivers seat tonight. I will post up with my findings. The passenger seat is more difficult. if I make a solid mount do I make it to fit the 6' 6" friend that rides with me a lot or my 5'3" girlfriend. Ha-ha I think I know the answer to that.

Ah, the passenger side.
When I finally get around to that I've decided to tackle the problematic inboard side first and let the outside fall where it may.
Fortunately, or maybe not, 99.9% of the time my passenger side is vacant, so I am mainly concerned with just getting it bolted in.

doggystyle! sorry i had to. anyway, i used to have del sol seats in my car. what i did was bolt the stock sliders onto the seat and weld a small plate where the bolt holes went and redrilled. the only side of the stock slider that fit onto the del sol seat was the inner rail(closest to tranny tunnel). i also had to extend the slide mechanism(not that hard). unfortunately the momo seat is probably flat and the rails would not be close. i did do the same mod to my recaro SRD's and they fit with the stock modified rails. so maybe it could work. also the inner rail bolted up no problem.
as for the passenger side, the same method worked except you need to shim the seat so it sits even. there is a lot of trial and error, and taking the seat in and out.

The most common approach is to simply make a couple of bars out of heavy gauge steel that bolt to the bottom of the aftermarket seat and bolt to the factory Mazda sliders.

pretty simple and straight forward. Not sure where someone could run it to trouble with that approach.

and Wally5.0 your bump was deleted. Bumps are forbidden in the 2nd gen sections (and many other parts of the board).
