|)arkspeed7's Widebody Project/Build Thread

Ok, So here's my ongoing project starting from like 2005 when I bought it. It's an 87 TII that I picked up in Orlando. Just got the bodywork completed maybe two weeks ago. It's RX-Heven's modified tripoint widebody kit, Shine's "sexy-style" hood, mazdatrix spoiler, and Jgrewe's fiberglass/lexan hatch. The car will be sitting on CCW classic's (315mm front/345mm rear) I got them just haven't put them on.

Figured I'd at least start this thread to keep a more defined log of it's progress.

The guy that did the work is a friend of mine, he does bodywork on the side at his house along with going to school. He learned alot of the "tricks of the trade" as he grew up from his dad and working at body shops. He did a Outstanding job on the car as he got it as a bare-stock bodied FC and a truckload of parts.

I Still haven't decided what color the car will be painted or how I'm going to address those vents in the fenders.

It's slow progress and will more then likely stay that way until I finish my engineering degree (prior marine ===>current college kid). the next step is a 10pt roll cage. but here are some pic's of the car.

I also was planning to install the rear diffuser that shine auto reproduced, but it really didn't quite look right under the wider rear fenders and decided not to. I may put it on my n/a DD or just sell it.

those wheels just dont do a japanese car any justice, this project needs some japanese flavor, like Work or SSR wheels.

Got anymore before pictures? Looking to get an idea of where this thing started off, and compare it with its current state. Great work - keep it up.

Thanks for the complements guys. I got a few before before pics... basically a plain s4 TII.. You orlando guys may recognize it from way back when. I bought it off a dude in orlando in 05' that posted it on this forum.

I thought about doing something different other then the S5 front bumper. But that would mean the lip I got that came with the wide body couldn't be used. Most aftermarket front bumpers that look decent go all the way to the front fenderwells, and that wouldn't work with the wide fenders. the more I thought on it the better the s5 bumper sounded.

I have CCW classics for the wheels, I like them. to each their own with wheels I guess.

haha, yeah CCW's are nice. I got 18/11 front wheels with a 295mm wide tire currently on the rim, once those are done ill probably move to 315 since the rim can fit it. and the rear wheels are 18/12 with 345's. tires are Michelin pilot sport cup pros I believe.

CCW's are sexy *** wheels, doesn't matter where they come from, good looking wheels are good looking wheels.

That car is hot, just think it could be soo much more epic with wheels that stick with its japanese theme/nature . Not hating the wheels, they look good, just think they suit domestic car better. Like autometer gauges in a japanese car, I'd go VDO instead *even though VDO is german* . etc.

Like Juiceh's wheels , his car would be epic if it was ever completed, i can imagine tons of media coverage on it.

Call me crazy, but if something is functional or looks good then I don't care if it's JDM, USDM or Euro. **** I rock autometer gauges & Aussie wheels.

Correct me if I am wrong by sticking to it's nature means what when considering that verts & Spirit R's come with BBS wheels & RX7's with oem Recaro seats? (not Japanese) Alot of Japanese automobiles come with oem BBS or Recaro's so if that is the original nature of these cars why is it mandatory for our cars to have wheels or parts made in Japan. Just making this observation, because of a similar discussion I have had in the past. I was told I should get rid of my Simmons wheels for a set of Works because they were JDM. I must say that made me laugh. It's the wheel itself (style, size, quality & finish) not the brand that makes it right.

and Subaru, Mitsubishi, Hyundai and Nissan come with Brembos. Dude you dont have to take offense to what I say, seems like everyone does. What I am saying is that its nice to stick with a theme for the car instead of mixing parts up. Foose or Boyd wouldn't put Falken tires or Watanabe wheels on their cars because it doesn't fit the theme.

Recipe to build an epic car should have a parts theme behind it.

Hyper I didn't take offense at all just I made a logical statement. Everyone has thier own style, just my thing is this some people feel that just because they have Japanese wheels or seat ect. they have a better car. Of course a theme should be in place when doing something. Example if I were to get Momo seats, ****, pedals & steering wheel would that be not a good theme because I didn't go with Bride & some other JDM interior. I understand what you are saying, I'm just stating my idea.
