What 20b "#" do you have?
#176
Just got one..
I Just got my 20b.. #D070
Question to those rebuilt their 20b..
I need to replace one housing. Can I use 13b-re housing?? or 13b-rew housing?
also, far as porting 13b-rew rear plate for manual transmission. Can I port that plate big enough to match the 20b auto plate?? Just wondering what people have done.

These are the #'s on the 5 20B's I own... 2 of them are great compression running Reman engines with the serial #'s ground off of the rotor housings..
377 My Side Ported engine
A406 My Peri Ported engine
A585 Mazda Reman
A818 has low compression and will be my next overhaul project
C982 Mazda Reman

The instrument cluster is independant of the ECU. If you get power through the car properly, the cluster will light up.

well, i'm still trying to recover from john english screwing me on the deal, but its going in my fd.
Sean at a-spec is working on the manifold for me right now, going with a GT42R. Microtech LTX12s should have been here by now.
Repainted the engine bay a few weeks ago, everything is either getting painted, polished, or powdercoated. trying to remove all the unnecessary wiring (ie. battery/fuse relocation). kinda going for the cleanest, ultimate street car thing

13bre
Hello, sorry for not staying EXACTLY on topic but this is like the best place for this question:
I have had a 13BRE in my FD for a while and have now blew it up and when i got my replacement 13BRE engine it seemed to have different castings on the FRONT and REAR plate:
on the front plate the FD has one more bolt and hole location than the 13BRE for the front cover at the 10-11 o-clock position, when I installed the First BRE the front plate had a location where i could drill and tap an aditional hole so i can use my FD front cover on my BRE block and the new engine does not.............
On the bottom of the REAR plate the FD has 6 12m x 1.25 holes for the motor mounts to go and my first BRE engine had the areas to drill and tap but my new engine does not............
does that mean that this new engine is one of the "weaker" castings or plates?
engine stamps numbers later if needed
also my brother has a 13BRE as well and it also has the available metal to drill and tap..........
any insight?

More pics...
Well, I looked today for stamps and there were none anywhere but the front plate serial which is not similar to the one you guys are talking about for series numbers, but if you could help me that would be good for when I shop for new engines again.....
The serial # on the front cover of the Blown 13BRE engine in my car that has the areas needed to drill and tap for the FD mounts and front cover is:
E097864
This engine has a "R" stamp on the front rotor housing and I could not see the rear housing, I know this stands for "Rear" but because it is on the front housing does this mean that it has been rebuilt with a "Rear" housing on the front?
The serial # on the front cover of the replacement 13BRE engine that DOES NOT have the metal material needed for me to drill and tap for the FD mounts and front cover is:
E064905
This engine has a "R" stamp on the front AND rear rotor housing, does this also mean that it has been rebuilt because the "Rear" housing is on the front?
Thanks,
Jeremy
