i was going to email you but thought i would post instead as others could use your answer as a resource.

yesterday i finally was able to use my T56 for the first time. the car was up on jackstands but all seems well w my conversion... so far.

my question relates to the speedo. i do have an FD wiring book and there is of course the mazda trans wire loom. i would guess it contains pulsed speed wires, and a reverse light switch.

i have a Dakota Digital module to make the conversion. i also bought pigtailed fittings for the speedo and reverse.

i am primarily interested in knowing, if you remember, how you did it. did you locate the DD module near your ECU? do you remember what Mazda wires you used?

any help appreciated.

2B is the signal wire for the RX-7s tach

green (manual cars) or green w/ black stripe (automatic cars)...this wire went to the signal side of the RX-7's VSS sending unit, which was located in the driver's side of the RX-7 transmission's tailhousing. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this X-14 connector, this wire changes to yellow w/ red stripe.
...orange (manual cars) or blue (automatic cars)...this wire went to the ground side of the RX-7's VSS sending unit, which was located in the driver's side of the RX-7 transmission's tailhousing. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this X-14 connector, these wires change to yellow w/ white stripe.
...yellow w/ white stripe...this wire went to the rotary engine's water temp sending unit. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this connector, this wire changes to grey.
...black wire w/ red stripe (manual cars) or yellow w/ blue stripe (automatic cars)... comes from 15a fuse in underdash fusebox. This is the power source for the back-up lites. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this connector, these wires change to black w/ yellow stripe.
...yellow w/ red stripe (manual cars) or brown w/ blue stripe (automatic cars)... goes directly to the back-up lites. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this connector, these wires change to red.
...black wire (manual cars only)...this large gauge wire needs to be grounded to BOTH the chassis AND to the engine. If you are tracing the dash harness half of this connector, this wire changes to black w/ blue stripe. In the automatic cars, this circuit (black wire) goes thru RX-7 connector X-05.

Thanks to_slow, been busy. I have the Dakota box between the vss and the factory harness, then changed the connector for the backup lights.

Still need to get it aligned, going to make an appointment for this week. I'm working on getting an agreed value policy from Hagerty or someplace simular. My old insurance company will not do full coverage on it again because it was paid out as a total loss, even with a rebuilt & inspected title.

Also getting the windows tinted and black seat skins I hope the next couple of weeks.

Still need to clean off the rest of the buffing compound out of the seems and misc areas.

New pics taken this morning.

Car hit the street finally tonight. I finished putting the black seat skins on last weekend and installed them last night.
But now it looks like weather is turning for the worse here in MN. Maybe we will get a few more good days before snow.
Turbo spools about the same as the old one. I have not turned it up past 15psi , just touching up the low boost setting.

They both hit 15psi within a few hundred rpms of each other. The old turbo had more boost at a lower rpm, the gt47 just hits all at once. Interested to see if it will hit 30psi by 5200.

Right now I am having a issue with the wastegate gasket keeps leaking. I'll probably just buy and install tial v-band wastegate this winter.

Sorry car has been on the back burner for a while. I've been waiting for my DOT inspection for 2 months now. They were back logged for over 10 weeks. My date is July 9th. Then I can get car re regisered and on the road.

New stuff done
AEM Series 2 ems (Custom harness)
M&W pro16 and CDI coils
3xID2000 injectors for the primaries. Still have the 2400's for the sec.

Was able to get some road time off and on this week. Ohh how I forgot how it feels even at 15psi. It took some time to work out the gremlins with the new ecu, ignition, and misc wiring.
I also able to try the flex fuel setup today. Was low on E-85 and put in 5 gals of 93, ended up with E-39 on the gauge. Used the fuel trim input on the AEM connected to the Ethanol gauge's 0-5v output to adjust the mixture. Worked ok, It still can use some tweeking but a good starting point.
