I am a power junkie and came from a T66 13B streetport 2nd gen. 400+ HP is not enough. I want more. I hated the lag to 4,000 RPMs. So I got a 20B, rebuilt it with a nice streetport and a few upgrades on it. I guess it's like going from a turbo 4 banger to a V8.
My point is, start off in a comfortable range. Target your setup with what your driving is. If you only drive in the city or open highways, then maybe a T78/T88 is your choice. You can always slap on a bigger turbo later. Just don't kill yourself with a 1,000 HP 20B drivin on the street...

What up
What's going on Guys thanks for all the info. I guess i'm going to go big i've also been looking at HKS Turbo's any one tried one. I will be driveing in the suburbs and the highway. Basically weekend car if i even get a chance to drive since i'm very busy. I ahve read Auto-Illusions tread but he does not get so tec when it comes to his engine . But 500 low boost and 750 high boost will be enough for me. I spoke with my engine builder and he highly advise to get the Guru E-Shaft if i want to have this motor be as reliable as possible. Well this Hobby/Project is for no more then 2 years. Fully built and ready for the Cover of tope magazines. Thank you all for the comments.

i think you will be looking for about 95+ lbs/min
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=gt42
should be helpful
and i have this turn for my setup. w/ dynos like this i think it will be more than im looking for.
so at 6psi expect 350hp and for it to spool at 3500rpm.
8psi see the link
15psi expect close to 700
someone maxed a t72+ (it had larger honed housings i think) at 13psi making 640rwhp?
flow must have been about 90lbs/min?? red-rx7 **car for sale or sold i think??**
oh it spooled at 3k? (alot of engine work done)
what are you looking to make again?? great charts can be found on majesticturbo.com and speak to kevin. he is awesome!!! very helpful!!!

another idea
dual turbo setup
use the ht-15 and the t-62
as a dual setup the 20b makes 450-500hp at 15psi
(banzai made 550...yeah i know)
so you should be able to make as a guess 600ish w. the dual setup i just mentioned.
just a thought.....

That and my conversations with IGY and Dragon who are actually running a T-76 on a 20B streetport (last I heard as those guys race all the time and who knows what they have now), as well as 20B3rdgen in Al who is running this (as am I), we are hitting a bar of boost by 2.5K and well into the 600+ range (my motor is too new and needs to be tuned/broken in yet for a dyno run) but you get my point.
Oscar...you can save yourself some money by keeping the compressor and just change out the turbine side of your turbo; however, since it's a smaller compressor side, use a larger turbine than those of us with a big compressor are using so go with a 1.32 (minimum) or larger.
Sorry 'bout my attitude but you guys sound like a bunch of rich engineers which is not realistic. Stop thorizing about what can be and go by what others have already done; just wait until the costs keeping adding and adding up for doing this conversion. Just save your money for now and do what is necessary to get the motor running, then change all the accessories when you can afford it.

If you look in the vb garage you'll see that red-rx7 had changed out his t72 and put on a t76. Also note his hp "estimates". He went with a larger turbine because he was outflowing his t72 and it was on it's last leg or gave it up. I've also seen Igy and Chris's cars while I was stationed in Japan. There pretty sweet rides.

That was me that posted above under onefastrx7turbo. And i'm not a rich engineer. I'm a mechanic building apu's (large turbines) for Honeywell, owner of garrett.

Sorry to be bitchy... my point to Oscar is don't worry about what your car will be 2,3,4 years from now. Get it running now with what you have and spend the least amount of money necessary to do it. After you've played with it at that level and broken drivetrains, clutches, fixed electrical gremlins, leaky oil lines, etc, etc, we all know projects like this are countless small projects...then worry about getting the turbo you really really want as well as the other accessories that you will need to support that additional power.
My comment on the rich engineers was meant to mean that Oscar doesn't have the money/time/resources to play with each turbo combination (who does?) to see which makes the best power for his desires... he just wants a solution to his question which was can I use what I got now or not basically so my answer is yes, but modify the turbine, it'll be fine for now.

Although, that the only reason you should be doing this is if you into heavy racing. If its for street, then just go and ask other 20b owners... there is noway your setup is gunna be soo different that their choice of turbo would be **** in your car..

That was my point before; go by what a bunch of us have already done with the T-76 (or similar size) and be happy

My builder wants to use my car to represent ans show his work. Basically I'll get him alot of new customers.
