T56 to automatic fd bell housing
#76
It can work
For 13b engines from a fd3s it would work if the rear plate is from a automatic rx7. But for any 13re engines or 20b it would work perfectly with current set up. We are working in creating another design to accommodate the 13b 5 speed conversion to t56. Also wanted to let everybody know that the bellhousing would be a bolt on to the t56 magnum not sure if it would bolt on to the standard t56. Also I have a torque arm to make the conversion to the standard t56 that it's brand new never used! I payed 300 for it would let it go for 280. I'm not going to use it. Also I will be posting some of the pics probably tonite of the bellhousing bolt on to the t56 magnum. I will be posting pics in my friends mini me 20b rx7 831hp I will provide link. It's also here at the 20b forum.

you will need a push type clutch instead of the standard pull type with a 26 spline input. The bolt pattern and diameter of the flywheel is the same as before because you are using a fd starter but it must mate up to your new clutch. check with chips motorsports or quarter master.

I didn't realize so many people were having trouble putting T56's in FD's. I'll post pics of my T56 swap in a day or so. I'll put a link to my build thread in here.
my swap uses all off the shelf parts that are readily avalible and I retained my 5 speed rear iron. I've had the trans in my car since last June and It was purchased used from a friend that had it in his FD for over 2 years. again, all store bought parts with SFI aproved scatter shield. those of you that were at the Chris Carlissi memorial BBQ last summer got to see the install.

Treme the manufacturer of t56 have a very strict rule for all their dealer that they can't sell the t56 for less than a specific price set by Tremec. Tremec requires dealers to provide them with invoices for all Tremec sold and the price can't be less than their set price. The dealer I am curretly working with advice me of such and I confirmed it with Tremec they would not sell anybody a transmission directly unless u are a Tremec dealer. I can talk to The dealer I purchased mine from and we can create a group buy and he can go as low as he can sell them. Contact me if interested

Automatic Bellhousing
If anybody has a automatic bellhousing from 93-up or RE engine or 3 rotor, please let me know. I am working with a company to develop a SFI bellhousing that will bolt on t56 magnum and also to the 3rotor without any modifications but they made a prototype an it was too small. They are asking me to provide them with an automatic bellhousing to measure it to create the SFI one. If anybody interested feel free to contact me.

okay so I got the automatic bell housing ( shaved .25 inches off the back)and used Howard Coleman's plate ( which is a great product by the way) after a little modification to let the areas of the magnum t56 protrude through the adapter plate. the problem that I have now is that the input shaft is too short to go into the pilot bearing. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem? bewtew maybe? did you have to get a longer input shaft? or what can i do? here are a few pics of my issue.

I called the shop and they said the bell housing is approximately 7.75 inches deep and thats after having .25 shaved off the back. so new its was probably 8 inches.
