T56 to automatic fd bell housing
Is anyone ever going to make on of these? Howard Coleman has been saying he would make one for 6 months now so that most likely isnt going to happen. If anyone else has made one I'm willing to pay 300 dollars to borrow it to copy the design. I would then return it and make copies for people and I would offer a cut of every unit sold plus the 300 dollars for letting me borrow their unit.

If someone has one available there would be a good amount of money to be made simply by letting me borrow it to copy it and it would be returned immediately afterwards

if someone wants to let me borrow their t56 for fitup i will make one. I was planning to go that route anyway, but I bought a "t56" from someone and had a buddy pick it up, and it turned out to be a zf6, so I'm thinking about using it instead. I could be persuaded the other way...
FYI I am lead engineer at a large fabrication shop with CNC waterjets and etc, so I can make things happen if I get interested....

I got my bolt on kit from chipsmotorsports.com about a year ago. Very happy with the workmanship.
I don't think he will sell just the mounting plate, i asked a wile back..Quote people asking on the forum for them.
Hope it helps....

In terms of bellhousing bolt patterns, a T56 is a T56. Did you also have to have your bellhousing machined down to use this plate, or does it, by itself, ensure proper placement of the input shaft?

when i took delivery of the last iteration of the adapter plate i asked them for a price on 10.
since there probably aren't ten orders out there i will call them friday and ask for a quote on one unit and 5 units.
i am not going to do a group buy as i am far to busy but will be happy if anyone is interested to accomodate on a cash and carry basis. i have over one thou in developmental costs in the plate.
the adapter works perfectly although over the winter i am going to ditch the auto flex plate
(4.2 pounds) for an approx 12 pound custom Quartermaster flywheel.
the car leaves from a stop fine but i did have a problem w a stopsign that was on a steep incline.
i should have a price by monday. availability should be no more than 5 biz days plus shipping.
tha plate has no centering pegs so you need to use a dial indicator on the input shaft and center it prior to tightening the bolts. a 30 minute job.
as i mentioned from the getgo i built this for myself but am happy to share if anyone is interested. selling an adapter plate is a long way from job one for me.
i do love the conversion, it has worked out (including the clutch package) better than i had hoped. i am running 2200 pound springs in the clutch and will be back on the dyno this week to see how they hold.
since you guys make 50% more power you may want to up the spring pressure a bit. QM can give you whatever you want.

I contacted Chip ( chipsmotorsports ) about his offering and figured I'd post it here for anyone interested in pursuing it.
He said that the kit is made to order with a two (2) month wait.
The following breakdown is from the provided documentation.

Adapter plate SS machined 3/8 thick - $600
7.25 Hydraulic bearing with post - $650
Machined bellhousing cleaned and prepped (customer provided) - $400

Bolts, fittings/ss hydraulic lines - $130
Custom aluminum flywheel with Tilton twin plate 7.25 rally clutch - $2300
Total - $4600
to_slow, any chance we could see some pictures of your kit?

But the quality of his craftsmanship and the fitment was second to none...
I don't have pics of the kit when I got it,, my drive crashed lost all the pics ..

if i have 5+ guys interested i would put a kit togheter after the holidays. it would not take long as i have done it before and i have pretty much another setup just sitting in my garage so i could just copy it AND it will not cost the rediculous amount of $4600.
olyrx7: i probably have about 2k miles of serious beating on the tranny and it's working fine. i had to drop my tranny to fix something stupid that i had going on with the clutch and i decided to open the tranny for inspection and every looked just like the day it was built.
