Questions about 20B N/A
#26
I have been working on an NA 20b and think it will make 375-400 whp, though its a few weeks from dyno. I suspect it will make well in excess of 300 ft pounds from 1500-8500. We are using 10.5:1 Renesis rotors with the usual improved seals and springs and a slightly different approach to porting we think is better suited to the NA 20b. There are several subframe solutions available that eliminate the usual problems. Also, while we have yet to weigh the results and I have heard that many think it will weigh more than the stock car, I am fairly comfortable that it will weigh more -- perhaps well more -- than 50 pounds less and all from the front. So much stuff comes off related to the turbos.

GtoRx7: We spoke a year or more ago, if you remember. I said I suspected it might make 300 ft lbs... I am simply hopeful and that is a target. I'll let you know how it goes. As to the motor and the discussion of renesis compression ratios, seals, etc... This motor is a real spitz. When its done, I'll get a list of the stuff that went into it posted with any dyno results. I don't think there has yet been a lot of experimentation with NA 3 rotors. I'm not sure it has the same cycle as the single turbo stuff did or that it ever can, since Its a lot easier and cheaper and proven to just go single turbo for 450+ hp. Anyway, might as well play around with one and see what happens.

He was questioning your suspected 300 ft lb tq rating from 1,500 - 8,500 rpm's, not just the peak. Cause there's no way a 20b will get 300lbs that early in the power band being NA.

REted, Bcool, and more have dyno charts of 20B n/a's, and I have one as well, but it was a horrible scan, and the car with still working out ecu issues.

I have a slightly different 20b project going on that I hope to get 400 rwhp N/A out of. Details can be found here:

Here is the dyno from my NA 20B hillclimb car. The engine was street ported and had a custom upper intake with a 75mm throttle body. The 281HP run had the shop's exhaust hose pluged into the tailpipe , the 290HP was just the car's muffler.

Are you using the 9.0:1 rotors or the 9.7:1 rotors? And I just noticed you dyno'd to 9500rpms, did you do any supporting mods internally for that?

With the GT4202R on this engine now I am limiting the RPM to 8500.

Do you have any pics of the intake manifold and throttle body?
