New billet center ENGINE PLATE.............. by turbosmart

Here's what Rocky had to say in a recent mail..
the plate will be available to the public in about 4 weeks. We weren’t going to sell to anyone but the decision was made to make them available to the public. At Pac performance we love Rotaries and we want nothing more than to have the Rotary engine beat up on the piston powered cars. We don’t care who does it as long as it is done with a Rotary.
The plate will bolt directly on to a stock 20B engine using a stock e shaft, no mods needed. The surface is coated and the seals wear perfectly on that coating , in fact it wears better than the standard Mazda plate.
The reason we developed the plate is because we waited 2 years for a well known business in Australia to supply us a plate and all we got is empty promises. As you would be aware the factory plate is no longer available and rather than race a 13B like everybody else has done we worked on a replacement and the billet plate is the result.
We tested the plate extensively on the dyno with great results. We have used the plate in the MX6 at private test sessions and all the data we have collected has been good. The first meeting that we raced with the plate is at the 2008 Jamboree as did some of our customers.
I don’t know if it will allow us to make more HP because there are still the stock front and rear plates , but at least now we can use the engine without fear of breaking that center plate, and we should be able to make the same amount of power per rotor as the 13B engine does.
Even if we don’t make 1 HP extra we should be able to go a little faster with the new car, even though the MX6 has been good we now have a superior car and hence we should be able to take the fight to those 2JZ powered Toyotas .

True but in the future, I plan on purchasing a 4 rotor crank kit. If I'm willing to spend the money on something like that, then I'm willing to go the distance. Would love to make the engine as light and as bulletproof as possible.
Edit. I'm also awaiting for results on this item below. A 4 rotor that weighs the same as a two rotor with over 10k redline? Now sign me the f*ck up.

Flaco, will you be running a billet plate or is Mazda still a parts sponser?? Just when we thought 07 & 08 was 2 incredible years for the rotary, 2009 looks to be better than anything we've seen

There's a lot of things you cannot do with CNC that you can do with castings. (Could you imagine trying to make the complex water jacketing in an end housing?)
Sorry for my lack of enthusiasm, working as I do on the production side of things helps me see things for what they are instead of the hype.

This is why Xtreme rotaries real centre plate prototype is a 2 piece item which gives you the ability to machine the water jacket out properly so that it is effective. this turbosmart plate will struggle with cooling, thus only suitable for drag engines on alcohol. Rohans 2 piece plate will be suitable to all forms of motorsport and all applications. If you have the money i would wait out for his plate.
