My 20B engine Built by Luis Canizales from Alabama
I wanted to show off my "D" series 20B that I got built by Luis Canizales, who's been building rotary engines for the past 25+ years.. Just to give quick FYI about how I found out about Luis... About 8 years ago, i was looking for an engine builder who can built without insane cost or without BS. As I'm sure some of you know, there are quite a few "NAME BRAND" builders out there that chats away on the forum but without real substance or experience to back up there words.. Especially those who polishes ports to mirror finish to impress the youngins who doesn't know much about rotaries.
One of the things that impressed me about Luis was his pure mechanical knowledge and his experience. I met him thru a former "Partstrader.com" owner, Carmon, who wanted to build his own motor. At this point, I have met Rick Engman and saw his lap table that he use to build 4 rotors for Jim Downing. When Carmon told me that he found someone that made his own lap table (which is VERY impressive) and every engine Luis built, he table cranked it, I was impressed and wanted him to build my motor.
Anyhow, Here are some pics of my engine..
My short block. Completed.
You could see another 20B on an engine stand that's been cranked.
Also, he's not going to try to sell you a race engine if you don't need it. Ie, Luis talked me down on my engine because its going to be a street driven car and not race driven car.. Some builders I've met goes beyond to build a race engine that someone only going to use it for mainly on the street... or sit inside their garage
Anyhow, if you want to get in touch with Luis, Call : 256-458-8900
Tell him Philip Sohn told you about him

Luis Canizales cranks every engine he builds this way and does 10+ heat cycles before giving it to the customer... This way, you know that the engine is running properly before putting it in your car.

Hey Phil. Its Marshall from Oxford. You may remember me from Luis shop those 5-6 years ago. I've got the black 2nd gen with a skunk strip. Anyway, Good to hear the engine is built. I saw it sitting around a few years ago and was jealous, of both of them. I've just contacted Luis about my next engine. I was actually there when you shot the video of that 12A beast on the stand. That was one mean little engine.
