Interchangable parts from a 20B
What parts are interchangable in a 20B?
- I know the 20B has an intermediate plate somehwere in there that's unique to the 20B
- Are the rotor housings the same as other 13B rotor housings or interchangable?
- Are the side housings the same or interchangable?
- Are the rotors interchangable?
- Front plate, what about it?
Basically, if I'm going to rebuild a freaking 20B, I'm going to freaking rebuild the whole thing with as many new parts as possible.
- I was wonderingif it's possible to slap the Racing Beat rotors into it? And if so, which ones?
- Is it possible to use the Racing Beat aluminum front and intermediate housings as well? I know they have a 20B rear, but what about the front and intermediate?

As I've been told, the 20B uses the same components as the 13B except for the e-shaft and the rear plate. The e-shaft of course is a 2-piece unit that's unique to the 20B, and the rear plate is the one from the 3rd gen 13B. The rear plates from the '91 and prior engines will not work.

the rotors are 89 t2
the rotor housings are similar to 89 t2, except for the exhaust port insert, but you want the rx7 one anyways
the front iron, is like an fc/fd one, but it has tension bolts going thru it for the front rotor, and the larger ports
front center iron, super thick oddball stuff
rear center iron and rear iron: like fc/fd except 20b has larger tension bolts, and port runners
just about everything is still avalable new, its just not cheap

Cool. Sounds much more inexpensive AND you can pick and choose your parts to make sure they're in good shape, instead of dumping $5000 on an old 20B block in unknown condition.
