FD3S Rear Differential /w kazz... how long is it going to last?
I've been building a 3 rotor FD for awhile now... got side tracked too many times on other projects... Now I'm selling everything else so I can focus back on this thing... ok enough about that...
I have a gt80r turbo setup, street ported 3 rotor, etc... I plan to push over 600 on street, who know what for the track... hopefully 800hp on race fuel...
My question is how long is this Kazz 1.5 way in the stock diff housing going to hold up, or should I just switch right now to a mustang cobra diff? If my current setup will hold up, who makes good axles that will take this? I want to hear from IronMdnX, because I think you have the same turbo setup I do.
Thanks,
Jesse

The Cobra rear will also crack. You need to get a brace to strengthen the hole case. People with 700+ WHP haven't broken their case yet with the proper precautions. If you want something "bulletproof" you'll have to get a straight axel....

^ agreed.
The only real reason to switch to the 8.8, it seems to me, is for the more readily available final gear options. A proper brace is needed for either application with such hp/tq. Look to ErnieT's diff brace. . .it seems to be holding alot of power on a stock diff. The problem is so much with the differential itself, but with the case (for both oem fd and 8.8)

This is the best looking Cobra 8.8 conversion I've seen:
The Driveshaft Shop make Chrome-Moly Rear Axles for 8,8 diff conversions.
Madza RX-7 w/ 8.8 rear axle bar/outer race upgrade

I'm still running a stock housing with a t2 diff. I've broken just about everything else forward. Just watch out for wheel hop.
I have been gathering cobra 8.8 parts for when the time comes.

Hi Mate I seriously having a problem with my FD3S. I am running 20b Mazda RX7 and the diff is keep breaking I really interested in buying or making the set made by TAZ-NZ. I am willing to pay the money for it if the same set up can be made for my FD3S....I think my 20b which is arround 1000BHP mark is easily capable of producing such torque that it can easily blow any diff. If TAZ you are reading this note please get back to me..... my email address is gillanis@hotmail.com
