Big washer: ( for cap one end of square pipe).

its not pretty but it would work.

one thing before everyone runs out and builds one of these.
the reason the mazda puller is such a close fit over the end of the e shaft is because this is a off center
pull to get the end lobe off.
the one i made has a machined clearance over both the nose part of the shaft as well as the bearing area
of the lobe, with a clearance of about a thou. so there is no chance of any deflection as pressure is applied.
if its good enough for mazda its good enough for me.(in most cases )

Very good thread teachermechanic. This is what forums should be about. Sharing information with people concerning the same interests. Awesome. But I do understand some people have to make money somehow. This needs to be stickied in the 20B FAQ.

i FORGOT TO MENTION THIS:
When you use this puller you need to put back your ( e-shaft nut ) for protect shaft and this nut center tool also.

There is actually an easier way to pull the lobe than using one of these pullers. Sit the engine vertical with the shaft extension to be removed pointing up. Apply some upward prying force to the bottom of the lobe with a crow bar braced against the housing. While holding that upward pressure tap on the end of the e shaft with a large several pound hammer. It normally only take a few goods taps, it'll pop right up and off.

Important: You'll want to put a piece of leather or something similar between the crow bar and housing. And of course you'll want to protect the threads, I used the nut that screws onto the shaft.

A piece of aluminum plate might even work if leather is not available.
