Any JC Cosmo owners?
Hi. I'd be interested to know if there's any other Cosmo owners here as I've just bought a nice 20B Type S. If so, what model, any mods, pics, etc.? Cheers.

This is the FC 20B that I bought from Mariah (which is being completely redone following the fire!) - Note: It's WHITE!
Here are some pix from the rebuild:

3Rotor> didn't know it was you that ended up with that
Cosmo,,, that was the one that was on ebay at one time wasn't it?
what are the rules about driving it on the
road, I thought that it was not allowed since they were
never crash tested in the u.s.
I would love to have that car or better yet the later
sport model

It was a private sale and it is properly documented so I have no driving restrictions. It is titled, registered and insured as what it is with all of the correct numbers, etc. As these are extremely rare, you take what comes on the market, when they surface...

Sweet, is that the only one on the road in the US? Anyway, I'll post some pics when I get mine registered and get the new rolling stock on there. BTW 3Rotor, do you know what is the widest 18" wheel/tyre combo you can fit on without any guard modifications?

It is not the only one in the U.S. - there are actually a couple of others - they just don't get out much
I had the same question about tire and wheel width, so I asked Lance Warren and here was his reply:
Hey Brad,
18's will fit easily.
You could go even wider if you wanted.
like
front 18x9 with 255/40ZR18
rear 18x10 with 275/35ZR18
Lance
I went with the Konig Imagine series in 18 X 8.5 all the way around. They are wrapped in 235/40ZR18s. They aren't mounted yet, but they were test fitted and they are fine!

I thought the Cosmo was illegal for use on U.S roads unless it was a short term thing, say I bought mine over to be used only while on holiday then it has to return when I leave???? Unless someone does as Motorex did with the Skylines??
anyway, I have a JC Cosmo, 20B, S6 5 speed box, big bore, 19x8 lenso Muse wheels (going to replace with 19x9.5's and 19x11" or 12") etc.
Goes bloody well with a 5 speed, well worth the effort.
don't have pic of car yet with wheels etc.

I have owned a few and love them to death but they are a very sad joke at the same time. Japan has that 280ps limit that ruined this car. This should have been atleast a 400hp Monster luxury Couple that would stomp 600 V12 Benz Coupe or 850i but instead they CHOKED it with small ports and a REDICULUSLY small secondary turbine. They are now being hunted to extinction for the waisted gem under thier hood. Right now I could sell my engine for more that I could sell the car for. "With proper modification" this is by far my choice over ALL other luxury sports coupes.
I dont see why some try to put a square peg in a round hole and make them into sports cars though but more power to them...

Maybe with the Renesis and the rotary revival, Mazda will remake the Cosmo and sell it worldwide like the RX-7 and RX-8? Wishful thinking, but the message is clear: we want 20Bs and the cars they came in!

irox, a mate did my conversion for me, but my brothers work and a couple of others have also done this conversion over here in NZ.
pretty strait forward, only issue for me realy was the speedo signal from the S6 box had to be converted to suit the Cosmo dash.
I also used a S4 bell housing so I ca ould use a new push type ACT clutch i already had which meant we had to get a spacer/adapter plate made to suit.
Used a mazda capella (1989?) clutch pedal assembly as well.

thanks but I don't have the cash at the moment the rebuild is up to $7K now two rotor housings are "ted" huge gouges in them about 3mm deep ! I suspect that the receipt I found in the ashtray was for the car it is in japanese and is for 1135 yen I will borrow someone's digi camera and post the pics. I will keep the old rotors for paperweights though the $7K includes street porting

Hi ya 3ROTOR. Viewing the pics of your JC Cosmo. You going to get rid of the gross looking after market rear spoiler.
Japs have such quirky taste dont you think. May have a factory rear spoiler available if you are up for the factory look.
Here are some pics of my Cosmo. It was photgraphed for a review in an Aussie magazine.

The wing stays! It grows on you after a while. Most people like it, including me. Perhaps it's not just the Japanese, but some Americans, too, that have a quirky sense of style. Besides, taking it off would likely expose a sun beaten rear deck and I really don't want to deal with that given the difficulty in securing paint and/or rear deck lids.

It may "grow on me" aswell, but will wait until I see it in real life. ...........
That Cosmo of yours sure will be worth some dollars on U.S roads.
