88 FC project, need some info/help
Hey guys, yes I'm a newb on these forums
. I looked through the FAQ section for the 2nd gens and didn't find the info needed, so I figured I would just ask. Well a little bit about myself first, my name is James, I've lived in Maryland most of my 29 years of life. I currently work for the government, REALLY boring job. Next April I'll be moving to Texas, to go to UTI for automotive schooling. Afterwards I'm hoping to work for a specialty shop, or if I have to a dealer shop. So that's enough about me.
So last year I bought a junker of an RX-7 (I'm at work so I can't upload pictures at the moment, they'll be posted when I get home) I paid $700.00 for an 88 S4 RX-7, and well it was about worth that. I'm currently in the process of rebuilding the car from the ground up. As I currently type this, the car is stripped down to nothing inside, the gas tank has been pulled, engine, transmission, pretty much everything. I have to finish pulling the suspenion and the rear hatch. I've made a little bit of progress so far as I'm installing the Tamon Design/Amemiya wide body kit. I have to cut the rear quater panels out and mold in the rear fenders, the C/F hood has to be streched to fit properly. I've ordered a new Tein Flex coilover system w/ EDFC.I have the 5 lug conversion that I need to take care of. I have a set of Volk CE28N sitting at my place that will replace the factory 4 lug stockers. The project is coming along nicely, as I'm taking my time on it.
So now the more technical part of the project. I've recently purchase a 20b twin turbo'd motor, and a set of mounting brackets for the engine to sit so nicely in that beautiful emtpy engine bay
. I want to build the engine for close to 900 rwhp, as I know it's been done various times. Now before I get millions of responses, the only issue I need to worry about right now is rebuilding the engine. So I was wondering what type of Apex seals, corner seals, side seals, oil seals, the basics of rebuilding an engine? I've been looking around and I've found a few places to purchase these parts, but I'm not sure if I should go with 2mm or 3mm apex seals, solid or 2 piece corner seals and various variables? Also what ports I should go with, street port, bridge port, J bridge port, perphrial port? Finally what engine management would you recommend as I know there's many applications to choose from? So any help from experienced builders would be greatly appreciated.
I also want to thank the moderators for creating such a nice and easy to use forum for RX-7 enthusiast. I also want to thanks all the members on the forum for providing valuable information of what's worked and what hasn't. I'll be stopping by on a regular basis to post pictures of my progress, and to ask for any help I may need when I run into a problem, or when I want to blow up my RX-7
. Take care everyone and have a good one.
James

I know I read it all the time. This thread is useless without some pics, so here they are. First up is the day I bought the ride for $700.00, good price!
Next is a couple pictures of the tear down
Here's a few pics of the widebody that's been installed, it still needs to be straightend out, and hopefully easily.
