20b semi pp turbo question
i'm considering either converting my 20b to a semi peripheral port. I'm also toying around with the idea of building a second 20b motor in case I blow my first one so i would have less down time, and doing it to that motor while I run the first one. I was curious if I could use the factory 20b UIM or if it would simply choke the air off too much. my idea was to use the stock 20b UIM and make a LIM that divided into nine seperate turbes instead of 6 also using a throttle body on each pp runner just below where it would divide into nine runners to only let them come online around 3/4 throttle. any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Sounds good, but by placing throttlebodys in the pp runners you're not eliminating the brapping and buckling of a pp. Even though the tb's are closed the overlap is still there. Having the pp tb's closed might even make things worse because of the higher vacuum level in the pp runners, so having a seperate throttlebody for the side ports might be better. Just keep the pp size normal and you should be fine without a seperate tb. A proper efi system helps. A custom UIM might make a bit more power, but since you're running a turbo you can also just run a bit more boost. It's also something fun to experiment with when the car is up and running, back-to-back dyno testing with different UIM's should be interesting.

I spoke with Jay today from pro jay today and all I can say are positive things. The attention to detail is incredible. he believes that this 20b semi pp manifold should be available in the next month! He also assured me that they have been able to keep the idle very smooth and around 800rpms!I thought you guys might like to see this as well.

i was thinking of doing something similar with my 13b..have the semi come on by rpm, because i dont think i could deal with the high idle and sorry but i hate the brap sound as if it was bridged..but due like the power you can make with it..good luck

i dont know with a 20b,but i can say that a friend has a datsun drag car that was full peri and he went semi and went faster and made more power...from what i've herd it seems that the semi works better but thats what i've herd not saying that it is...btw the drag car made 904rwhp first pull on the dyno @40+psi
