I just noticed from another thread that Tegheim is using a 6-speed from an M3 BMW in his 20b conversion. Now I'm really sure a driveshaft is the least of his worries when compared to his project as a whole.

Nice job.

That ecu has been upgraded since then. Now it's called the Ltx-12s. I wonder how these are holding up?

So, you guys are confident that the handling isn't going to be totally stuffed having the motor that far forward?

And this becomes quite an easy drop in job (just getting the motor in) by using the off the shelf mounts from fc3s.org or whatever? They look almost identical to the ones used in this project, so for the sake of this question we'll assume they are used.

As for the microtechs, probably 90 percent of modified rotors in Aus use them. There's no denying a Motec is better in everyway except value, but to say MTs are unreliable crap is taking it a bit far. They're used quite successfully down under. The newer models are certainly a step up in quality too. Anyway, enough blithering!

I'm asking because I've always been interested in an N/A 20B 2nd gen, and now I've got a 2nd gen, so...

We're currently streeting ours, and the owner is having a blast driving it around.
The front bar is currently set in the "middle", and there are two more settings stiffer.
We're finally lining up our turbo system, and the IC just went in over the past two weeks.

That's awesome to hear!

That's using the custom 3 position adjustable front bar mentioned in the fc3s.org swap section? Probably an obvious answer!

I actually found a JDM FC front clip w/ a 20b in it. I have a customer that I'm doing a JDM ZC in (Civic), and came across a BUNCH of 20s and JDM ****.

They released the FC w/ the 20 in it?!?

****!

You're assuming the motor isn't destroyed internally and actually meets OEM spec's... At least you get the manifolds and internals of the motor even if all the seals and housings are potentially shot (always assume worst-case).

Well, even if the internals are shot worse than a heroine junky, it'll still come out cheaper than buying a 20, going throught the SAME rebuild, and then trying to shoe-horn it into my FC.

Maybe.

I would have to disagree on that. If the motor just has low compression the housings still might be within tolerance. If an apex seal lets loose at minimum your looking at new housings and at least 1 rotor. Thats $2k right there.

Hm... Maybe, but the likelyhood is about the same that I'd have to do the same, stand-alone. I mean, if I bought the clip, and had to do that, then the chances are pretty good that I'd have to do the same with just the engine.

It's a 5-speed but yeah its an bmw-gearbox... driveshaft stock, welded together the mazda gearbox with the bmw tranny, with a new flywheel made by my self and my 3-disc tilton (1240nm torque) it will be great.

Why put so far back... why not? it will not oversteer... and alot of space for a big intercooler and radiator... more space under the hood using the space under the car will have place over for my little GT45-turbo also you know...

Getting closer. Saved some manufacturing time and bought off-the-shelf (sorta).

Y-pipe and down-pipe.

Everything thing minus the boost guage and vac source for the brake booster is plumbed. Fuel lines, water lines, radiator hoses, misc vac needs and new oil lines are installed.

I am currently awaiting a dual alternator belt pully. Then I will finish some wiring and fire it. :-d
