20-B Horsepower Capability?

Can anyone tell me how much horsepower a stock 20-B engine can handle reliably considering it is well tuned? The goal is 500whp on a full Stock internals good compression 20-B. Once it is built with a normal sized engine stud kit can it handle 650-700whp? any info will be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Try searching for "20B" without the hyphen or dash.

But yes I'd say a stock port 20B with good internals can do 500. If you want more it may need some porting.

Thanks for your advice...
at 500whp there is no need for an engine stud kit or dowel pinning?

Nope. The engine isn't working as hard to make 500 as a 13B is.

What build number is your engine? Mine is early pre-letter so I chose to streetport and go NA. I wanted to go turbo, and it could have made 500 easily but it's got early castings and an early shaft. I decided to not risk it.

Look on top of the motor. Specifically look at the rotor housings where it says 20B, to the side you will see some hand stamped numbers and usually a letter prefix. If the numbers have been ground off, it was a rebuild.

You should also see the same numbers on the side plates. Kinda hard to see with full rats nest.

For more information, the old thread curently near the top entitled What 20b "#" do you have? by user "now" is a must read. Here I'll make it easy. https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/what-20b-do-you-have-108091/
