you guys are all bastards!

so while the fc is getting rebuilt, i am rotaryless for the first time in a few years. so what the hell am i supposed to do? i go to auto-x and bum rides in friends cars, like gigglesnirts drift LTD. and while i am there, what do i see? 2 first gens, ones that i have never seen before. so i ask for a ride in this sweet little white 80', complete with full suspension and slicks on the stock 13"? wheels. my hell why didnt anyone ever tell me that these cars are like 1200lbs and 80hp is more than enough to have fun? now i have to go buy one... you bastards!

I thought that I'd read this thread and someone saying something bad about us again for not helping or something, but turns out another one is hooked.

google works very well for that. however, its 2645lb - sounds like it must include a full tank and a driver or something.

Welcome to the wonderfullness that is the FB.

Cheap to buy, but you'll spend a lifetime's salary in one and not even blink.

And more fun than anything I could possibly think of driving.

Jon

Edit: Stock curb weight IIRC is 2300lbs for mine.

I never have weighed my 12a powered car, but my 84GSL with a Ford V8 and automatic weighs less than1200 kg with full fuel. It also has more than 80 hp.

haha! i was being sarcastic. i know they are more than 1200lbs and usually have more than 80hp. its just a different feeling. the fc feels like a pig in comparison. 250whp and 2700lbs< 115hp na and 2400lbs even though i had to lean the seat back way far to fit in with my helmet and was rubbing shoulders with the other occupant.

The FC does feel like a pig in comparison. That is why when I went to buy another Rx7 I bought another first gen. There is seriously no feeling like the feeling of a first gen. Weight has a ton to do with the fun factor.

... not to mention the tight suspension, nimble handling and low center of gravity. The snug cockpit holds you in very well too. Now if only the 1st gens had the same rack and pinion set-up found in the second gens rather than the recirculating-ball "wonder steering"...

^^Swap them. I've seen it done. these are great cars and are exceptionally great with a little suspension work and minor bolt ons

There are a few people that I know that have 2nd gen TII's as daily drivers and 1st gens as a weekend car. The 1st gen has a totally different feeling from a 2nd gen, its like the two are not even related. I've worked on my 1st gen for over 3 years and I've only driven it 2 months. I miss it everyday though.

Even with similiar suspension mods there is a big difference between my 2nd gen DD and the widebody 1st. The 1st gen was very nimble until I installed the body kit and wider/bigger tires. Now it feels heavier, but still more nimble.
