wtf?

Okay... I've been driving my 12A-SE since about mid january now... aside from 2500RPM idle and some secondary throttle issues (linkage not connected properly because if I connectct it I have a 7500rpm idle), it's more or less working right.

my carb is hosed, I need a new one or something.. I think that I'll probably get a megasquirt and go EFI over the summer (its my winter car).

Anyways, I'm driving around downtown today and I didn't bother shifting out of 2nd gear while going down a short (500m?) street... I was cruising at 5000-5500RPM for ... 10 seconds maybe? I let off (STEEP hilll at the end of the street) and downshift into 1st (about 7000RPM in 1st.. check hte mirror, WOW SMOKE EVERYWHERE! so I hit the clutch, drive the car home, it smokes once more.. park it, get the groceries out, take it for a spin... I drive it HARD.. the secondaries still open a good bit I think (probably halfway).. its not as fast as it could be but overall it's not that bad. anyways, it doesn't do it again, nomatter what I do to it.. it just acts like a perfect good little wankel.

My theory on what happened: I have an oil seal on the way out, crusing at 5000RPM made the oil pressure go WAY high and as soon as I let off the throttle it all got past the seal and caused the smokeshow....

The car has pretty good oil pressure I think.. at idle (2500RPM) when warm its just past the 4 and cruise at 3500 gets it almost to the 6... I wasn't looking at the gauges when it smoked.

Anywyas, is the engine OK, or should I be expecting serious troubles in the very near future? This car/engine combo needs to last me another 10,000KM (about 2 months) at least...

Thanks in advance...

You are probably right about the oil seal going out. High RPM + low throttle = very high vacuum, you can pull some oil past the seals and into the combustion chamber under those conditions.
