If you've ever seen a FD ripped apart its not really any different than a TII with the exception of a few extra parts here and there. FD's are beautiful and vastly superior to FB's and FC's in every aspect. I own a FB and an FC and to be honest I've never even sat in an FD. The FC is good looking enough to where people don't assume I have a severe ***** envy issue and the FB whips through turns and corners fast and smooth enough for my pleasure. Would I buy and maintain a FD? **** yeah I would. But until school is finished and I've got **** handled then I'll be more than happy to enjoy its older counterparts. But honestly my friend Karl fixes nothing but FD's because FB and FC owners do their own work. And the majority of FB and FC owners are actual enthusiasts rather than ricers with a lot of money who shave their head and work out alot. And then watch The fast and the furious and fondle themselves.

Right!!!! With age also comes more 'real' responsibility. Time gets precious. Having to finish your car repair so you can get to your job so you can have some spending money in your pocket is a little different from having to get it done so you can get to your job so your kids can have braces, food, and a roof over their head.

What are you smoking? The FD is a superior platform. Period.

Have you even driven an FD before?

I like my FC, but this thread is just a bunch of teenagers hating on FD's because they can't afford one.

As far as working on FD's mine has had:

rebuilt turbochargers
fully rebuilt engine with cermet housings
all new soft lines and wear items

... and it's never been to a shop. Give me a break, people.

Here, let me quote the first poster for you:

"You want to guess how many of them actually work on their own cars? VERY FEW!!!"

I guess you fall into the very few category, so don't get your panties in a bunch. I have driven an FD about 2 years back. Very nice car, and I would love to work on one, but definitely lack the experience for those years. If you are slamming us on being "too poor" to afford a third gen, then get the $%&# out our section. We do not need any of your second gen section drama brought into here, with you digging up a thread started years ago. I have poured enough money into my FBs to get a nice TII.

If you rebuilt your turbo and engine, all new soft lines and whatnot, then congrats. But if you come in here talking **** then you better back it up.

Quoted for ******* truth. We all drive the same damn car, so why hate on the different generations?
IMO:
SA/FB: the original, and still a great car that can be had for cheap.
FC: (remember, in my opinion) A step up fro the 1st gen. Roomier, more power and a bit better looking. Tons of aftermarket support, too!
FD: The quickest, best handling, and most complex of the RX-7s. It's a great car, but fragile/quirky, and it's comparatively tough to work on. I think it's also the best looking Mazda ever, and 1 of the 10 best looking CARS on the road...IMO.

Yeah, if you don't own, drive and fix a first generation RX-7, you are missing out in life. And the youngsters have the right idea, imagine loving, driving and caring for a car that was built before you were born.

Go Old School RX!!

I for one disagree with the statement above saying that second gens look better than first ... I think there's a good reason why sales started to go down when the second gens came in. Second gens also have alot of interior electrical problems.

One more for old school

I don't wear panties on week days, thank you... and I'm not talking ****, I'm defending against **** talkers. I can think of no other reason to hate on FD owners other than jealousy.

Man, you're all over the place... 2nd gen drama? WTF? This is an idiotic thread that had a thread started about it in the 3rd gen section. I followed the link and just had to say something because of the foolish comments teenagers were making about their beater FC's being superior. I didn't realize it was so old.

I wish I had just let it stay dead, so let's leave it at that.

You should realize a lot of people own both of 1st and 3rd gens, and obviously we can't hate on ourselves.

+2 that the second gens are ugly, in my own humble opinion. First and third gens both look good and have more of a common spirit.

All RX-7's are old compared to modern sports cars. I would consider an 83 RX-7 and a 93 RX-7 in nearly the same school of oldness, just a matter of degrees. I agree with wackyracer that old school is pre-RX-7.

When you consider the engine is interchangeable and there are plenty of first generation RX-7's with the same engine as many third generation RX-7's what school do those fall into?

Oh and I work on both (93 and 83) about the same amount. It mainly depends on how much time I have, whether I let someone else work on them.

Sorry, I was in a bad mood when posting

I am used to seeing a ton of drama and cockslapping in the 2nd gen forum side. When I saw that you said you owned a 2nd gen, it clicked haha. Also I dont think any of us hate the 3rd gen owners for bringing their cars to a shop instead of working on it themselves, its just a different mind set than ours.
