Working A/C!!!

Well, I finally got my A/C working, just as its starting to cool down outside . I had the high side line fabricated by In-Line Suspension here in town, and it was siginicantly less than buying new lines from Victoria British or Mazda (cost me $38). However, it isn't as cold as I expected it to be. I'm using R-134a, which I'm assuming Its not ice cold, can anyone confirm this?

Mine still works (knock on wood) after 17 years with the good old R-12 and it gets so cold that it sometimes frosts the lower windshield.

I think you can get still get it at some places, but it's very expensive. I have a can of R-12 in my garage that must be at least 20 years old from when it was sold in cans at auto stores. Today, it's no longer sold in this fashion. The reason that it's so expensive is that they are trying to encourage people not to use it and switch to R-134a. Wal-Mart sells a conversion kit, but I don't know how good it is. Do a search for 'R-134' and you should see a post with different people's results.

Mine had a busted hose when I bought it=no R-12 in the system at all. Put in the walmart R-134a kit, works very well!

actually you can still buy r12 in the small cans at the moment. I have a license and I priced some last month at $40/can from the autoparts store.

I put a bio therm in the vent of my 85, when I had the AC recharged by my dad (hes certified in refrigeration-or ever how its spelt) , It was blowing somewhere around 35 degrees inside the vent. If your blowing at 50 then Id say theres soemthing wrong.

Lucky you! That price is outrageous though!
